Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was raised most of my life in Center, Texas. Being I never felt that job opportunities were good for me there, I moved to Arlington, Texas with my brother. We lived there for a year, then moved to Red Oak, Texas. We lived in our Great Uncle Coil Griggs house. That house was Coil's mom and dads Alma and Jeffrey.

Now I live in my home in Tarrant County, Texas and me and my family have been tracking down our ancestry. Regarless if people are passed and gone, you will surely find your ancestry through a place like Find A Grave. My Baby Brother is in Heaven. I am attempting to collect as much information as well as share, so that I learn all I can. My family extends from these names: Perry, Griggs, Esselman, Higginbotham

Thank You
Thank You on behalf of Chicago Fire Department

Before WWII, McCarthy was a Chicago Fireman
Enlisted in the USMCR.

Discharged, Pearl Harbor ReEnlisted.
Discharged as 1st Sgt. to accept
a Commission.

Awarded a Silver Star on Siapan, two purple Hearts
CMOH for actions on Iwo Jima.
Remained in USMCR. Served in Korea.

Up on Return to Civilian life, He became Superintendant of a New Chicago Ambulance Corps.

Fireman still called him Captain " To Honor his Military Rank " Even though his Military Rank was
Lt. Col. Fire Service Rank of Ambulance Superintentant.

He LOVED to be called Captain.

Memorial is in Chicago's Quinn Fire Academy, along with a Copy of his Citation for the Medal of Honor.

Congressman / Reserve Navy Officer Mark Kirk assisted us in getting this done. I'm PROUDFto have been on this Committee.

For my Older Brother.
