The living come with grassy tread|
To read the gravestones on the hill;
The graveyard draws the living still,
But never anymore the dead.
The verses in it say and say:
"The ones who living come today
To read the stones and go away
Tomorrow dead will come to stay."
So sure of death the marbles rhyme,
Yet can't help marking all the time
How no one dead will seem to come.
What is it men are shrinking from?
It would be easy to be clever
And tell the stones: Men hate to die
And have stopped dying now forever.
I think they would believe the lie.

|kershaw||Sumner family of Northampton NC|
I have been researching my Sumners for years and believe that they are so difficult because of Huntington's Disease which persists in descendants to present. Adults died young and orpahns were left and sometime are found living together as the group of young female Sumners in 1850. The new group you have put together in the Bryan(t) andWhite Cemetery group is very interesting - especially your comments. I am very interested in the land divisions you mention. Is this a family of yours? Would you be interested in sharing information? Of particular interest is James Sumner died 1842. I believe he is the father of Willie Jr. who was not the son of Willie Sr. as you probably already know. I hope you will write me back on Find A Grave and the message if forwarded to me would allow us to share email addresses privately. |Edith Busbee Old||Margaret Mitchell Busbee|
Margaret Mitchell Busbee was the daughter of Charlie and Sarah "Sallie" Boone Mitchell buried in Saint John Episcopal Churchyard, Winton, Hertford County, North Carolina.
Margaret Mitchell Busbee, born in 1906, died in New York in May 1936. Her death certificate said the body was picked up in NY for burial in Ahoskie, NC (also Hertford County, NC) but I've been unable to find any record of her burial. Wondering if she's interred with one of her parents or brother who's buried in St. John Episcopal Churchyard, but again have had no luck trying to find out.
Margaret Mitchell Busbee was my maternal grandmother. My father is dead so I've hit a brick wall trying to find out.
Wondered if you live in the area and/or have any way to help me further my search.

|Joe Brown||Mary Mariah Spivey|
Thanks for your response. She is located in Cedar Lawn Cemetery just outside of Rich Square, North Carolina in Northampton County. Her number is 86543843 and it looks like you entered her information on 03 10 12. Thanks, Joe Brown Jr.
|Joe Brown||Mary Mariah Spivey|
Mrs. Spivey is my great grandmother.
I have published evidence that say her parents were Dudley W. Harris and Annie Elizabeth Fish who were married on 11 02 1871. My information could be wrong. Do you remember where your information came from? Thanks, Joe Brown
|Edith Busbee Old||child of Sallie Boone Mitchell|
Thank you for posting information related to Charles F. "Charlie" Mitchell and his wife Sallie Boone Mitchell, my great grandparents. I'm trying to locate the grave of their daughter Margaret Mitchell Busbee who died in 1936 but have had no luck. Any information you have would be helpful.
|immindful||Luella Langston Carter|
Could you verify the birth and death dates for memorial #96235805, Luella Langston Carter? The death certificate (487 - 106) in Ancestry.com at Henderson County, NC cites 5 April 1860 as the birth date and 13 November 1928 as the death date.
