Bio and Links
Bio Photo A native of Decatur Co., TN, my husband and I live in adjoining Perry County; his home county. Most of my family are buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Decatur County, and his in Pineview-Pace and Roberts Cemeteries in Perry County. We are familiar with a lot of the cemeteries in our native counties, and have tried to enter an accurate account of some of these cemeteries.
If I have entered a memorial for a member of your family, and you would like corrections made, or the memorial transferred to you, please contact me.

Michael Fisher's grave Jacob F. Fisher's birth
You're right, and I knew that. I should have just designated it as "burial details unknown." I couldn't find a way to just designate him as being buried in Bedford County without designating a cemetery name, which I don't know. Your research hasn't turned it up, has it?

Also, on a different topic, did you ever hear any family stories passed down on the details of Jacob F. Fisher's birth? My great-grandfather always said that his Grandpap was born in New Orleans during the Battle of New Orleans, and that Grandpap's mother always told him that she could, "hear the guns" while in labor. His birth certificate clearly states that he was born in Bedford County. He was born on January 8, 1815, which is the date of that battle. It's the kind of puzzle that I want to try to resolve in our family history.

As I see it, there are two possibilities. It's possible that Michael & Mary Fisher traveled to New Orleans, Jacob F. was born there, and his birth was recorded in Tennessee when they returned home. The second is that he was born in Bedford County, just as his birth certificate states and that his mother told him euphemistically that she could "hear the guns" while she was in labor.

Anyway, I just wondered if that family stored had been passed along other branches of the family tree as well.
Regards,
Nancy

Jacob F. Fisher
Jacob F. Fisher was "Grandpap" to my great-grandfather John Wesley Fisher. Or, to be more specific, Jacob F. had a son named Jacob Frederick Charles Fisher, who had a son named John Wesley Fisher, who had a son named Henry Killion Fisher, who had a son named John Clifford Fisher, who is my father. Small world!

My great-grandfather lived until I was 19 years old, so I knew him well. He and my great-grandmother, Zenobia Crawley Fisher, moved from Decatur county in about 1914. She also had a long life and died when I was about 18.

I'm hoping to find details of some very specific things in my family history. Do you know if court records from around 1910 are maintained in Decatur County, or in the State Archives?
Regards,
Your long long long lost cousin Nancy

Jacob F. Fisher
Hello there,
Thank you for all the contributions that you make here. I know it helps a lot of people looking into family histories.

You've created a memorial for my great-grandfather's grandfather -- Jacob F. Fisher. I heard a lot of stories about "Grandpap" from my great-grandfather, who was John Wesley Fisher. Please let me know if you're related.
Regards,
Nancy Fisher Crawford

LaVerne & Johnny L. Swindle
I was wanting to see if you would transfer LaVerne (36741088) and Johnny L. (36740978) Swindle to me (47493175). If you would rather keep them that is fine too. I suggested some changes to LaVerne. Thanks, Chrissy
