Bio Photo Long before I was interested in genealogy I discovered a quotation that held great meaning to me. Now, this same quotation continues to inspire me in my search for ancestors. I always speak their names.

RE: Durst Cemetery, Leon Co.
Morning Lynda,
The info that U sent me on the Durst cemetery was very helpful getting there "however" it all fell apart.
I saw a neighbor lady out mowing her yard so I stopped to chat with her. She told me that the owner of the property, Mr. Hopkins as I recall being his name, had been home from the hospital only a few days and was not up to par. She also told me that they had taken down the signs that referred to the cemetery location as a method of keeping their privacy.
She offered to call him on the phone to see if he would be up to a visit. Also told me the Boy Scouts had cleaned the place up as a project years ago but now it is overgrown, in disaray and covered in poison ivy, tree limbs all over the place & so on. U must have visited it at the correct time, HA !!!
Anyway, for the better part of valor I chose to abandon my quest rather that push the issue.
Just wanted to thank you for your in depth information, Later, James Coston

RE: Durst Cemetery, Leon Co.
Evening Lynda,
I went there over the weekend and ended up at a neighbors house, the gps was wrong, Imagine that , Ha !!!
Anyway, she advised me that Mr. Hopkins, the owner (I think that was his name) was just out of the hospital for surgery and he was kinda miffed at the people looking for the Durst cemetery. So, in difference to him, I chose to exit stage left and let it go. Not knowing him personally and not having a connection to the cemetery, I chose to vacate...... seemed the best possible recourse. My interest was that John Durst served with my ggfather, James F. Coston in the Civil War and I was trying to tie them together.
I do thank you for your instructions and information, they would have proved valuable had I actually gotten access, but, that's the way it goes some time. Sometimes that shot-in-the-dark does not pay off.
Outta here, Later, James Coston

Durst Cemetery, Leon Co.
Evening Lynda,
I live in the Waco area and am planning a trip to the Durst cemetery outside Leona.
Checking out the fotos, I noticed that U were there in Nov of 2010.
My question: I have good directions to the location, including GPS, I am writing to inquire if it is open to the public or locked away on private property. I'd hate to drive the 100 miles one way for a dead end, HA !!!
Thank you, Later, James Coston

RE: S R Harris Headstone
I am very happy to do it. The headstone was very difficult to read in person but it absolutely the correct stone. I took a dozen photos from different angles and then edited them in different ways to try to draw out the inscription but it was fairly hopeless. The photos I posted turned out to be the best ones to try to read it.

RE: Dr. A. G. Denton Headstone
You are very welcome. Glad I was able to take it. Someone has recently cleaned the cemetery. It is in the middle of a pasture and the last time I visited it, years ago, it was overgrown. I was glad to see someone has taken an interest in preserving it.

RE: Wheelis
Hi Lynda,

Sure, I would love any info on this family. I just started working on this line recently & discovered Lewis as Rebecca's father & found a little bit of info on the web. I have a memorial for Lewis as Seaborn Lewis Wheelis.

You can email me at hank_a1 {at} yahoo (dot) com

Thank you so much for contacting me.
