Hi Pattie - Stopped at the Cass County Genealogy Society today and they confirmed that Delilah Archer is in fact buried there but does not have a marker. I think this person is really Sarah Delilah Archer, the oldest of the nine children of John & Sarah Archer. The records indicate she was buried in 1943. I had a date of death of 1937. I had a birth date for her of about 1855 which would make her about 88 years old at her death but the cemetery records say she was about 86. Do you have any other clues? Bill.

Hi Pattie - Sent you the link for Nellie and her husband Sam Archer and her mother Emily Partridge. Have not found her father yet. To my knowledge they had no children. THANKS!!! Bill.

|E. Saunders||RE: Charles W. Brakeman|
I'll send the burial information for the Brakeman's you asked. I also began a Find-a-Grave record for Roy Brakeman. His F.A.G. number: 148433135, Roy Herbert Brakeman, Westlawn Memorial Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska. Uncle Roy has no headstone. He is buried next to his brother, Melvin Brakeman.
|E. Saunders||Charles W. Brakeman|
Another note, Charles Brakeman's original homestead land and farm was/is about 3 1/2 miles directly north of Box Elder Cemetery, Cumro, Nebraksa. Judy Henry presently owns the farm and land. I met with her several years ago, and she remains a devoted historian to the property. The original Charles Brakeman house burned several years ago due to mice chewing on the wiring. Judy salvaged several things from the ruins and incorporated the artifacts in her new house on the original building site.
A few of the original Brakeman outbuildings still remain on the property. Charles' sod house, built south of the permanent house, no longer stands.
After Charles essentially abandoned his family in 1924 and moved to Crane, Missouri, his second wife, Rosa, filed for divorce in Custer County after she went to Missouri and tried a reconciliation which didn't work. Court agreed and rendered judgement in her favor. Charles sold her his homestead for $1.00 as a settlement in lieu of the $5,000 cash the court ordered him to pay. Rosa then, on the same day, sold the homestead and land to another woman to get money to pay medical bills and debts. Rosa moved to a small house in Ansley that Charles "Charley" owned. The house is there as of this day.
Rosa couldn't take care of her 2 youngest sons, my Uncles Jess and Everett. She sent them to Boys Town, Nebraska, for about 2 years. It is a sad story, Uncle Everett Brakeman was very sad about this to the day he died.
Rosa died in St. Paul, Howard County, Nebraska.
I have copies of all the court papers on this from the Custer County archives, Broken Bow, Nebraska.
|E. Saunders||RE: Charles Brakeman Obituary|
Charles Brakeman obituary, Oct 31, 1929 in "Custer County Chief,: Broken Bow, Nebraska reads:
"C.W. Brakeman a former resident of this community having lived n his farm southwest of town for a number of years passed away at his home in Craig, (sic) MO., after an illness of four days. Death was caused by pneumonia. Two of his sons from here and gone down to see him and shortly after their arrival Mr. Brakeman was taken very ill. The body was brought to Ansley Saturday morning and funeral service was held Sunday. Burial at Cumro."
Darned if I know. I think we have gremlins on here. The only ones who can delete a memorial is the person who made it or the powers that be that are administrators of this site??????
