Researching ancestors HARVEY, BELLEW, TOLBERT, GARGUS, GILLILAND, WILEMON, CLOWDUS, BEAM/BEAMS, RUTHERFORD, GLOVER, MIZE, PEDDY, MAYNOR, BEARDEN, SHIRLEY, BARKSDALE, STEELE, HILL, BUCKNER, HULLETT, RYAN, DEERMAN/DEARMAN, CLEMENTS and related families. I appreciate and will be happy to add links, dates, bios and make corrections to any of the memorials I have created. I will transfer memorials of your closely related family members, as long as they are not relatives of mine. I respond promptly to each and every request!|
NOTE: I am hesitant about transfering to anyone who has been a member of F-A-G for less than a year, or someone who maintains very few memorials. Why? Because I've found that often someone will sign up, quickly request transfers of all their family members, then get bored and not respond or make corrections after the newness of the site has worn off.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR 'EDITS' OFTEN!
Memorial Naming Conventions (Per F-A-G Help)
If a hyphen or an apostrophe is part of the name, use the punctuation.
A period should be used after names where only an initial is known. IF FULL NAME IS KNOWN, USE THE FULL NAME AND NOT THE INITIAL.
No other punctuation should be used within any Name Field.
Full capitalization (ALL-CAPS) of names should not be used in any Name Field.
Suffixes and Prefixes do not belong in any Name Field.
First name of the deceased. Put the entire first name (if known), even if the grave marker is only an initial.
Middle name of deceased. Put the entire middle name (if known), even if the grave marker is only an initial.
Nickname of deceased, if known; the nickname is automatically placed in quotes.
Maiden name of a married individual, if known (otherwise leave blank); the maiden name is automatically italicized and should only be used if the individual was married and took the spouse's surname as their new surname. If the deceased was never married, then the surname should be placed in the "Last Name" field, NOT in the "Maiden Name" field.
Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field.
Techniques for getting GOOD photos of memorial stones/markers:
1) Go prepared! Carry a brush/small broom/weed clippers, etc. just in case some clean-up is needed before photographing a marker. (SOME PEOPLE ARE TOO LAZY TO EVEN REMOVE A FEW LEAVES!)
2) Take a pic of the entire stone with surrounding
area in case you need to go back and redo a photo. BY ALL MEANS TAKE A CLOSE-UP OF THE INDIVIDUAL'S MARKER! Look at the back of the monument as you may find additional information there.
3) On your camera, choose the proper resolution. Low settings allow for more photographs, but higher resolutions will give better photos, especially on those hard-to-read stones.
4) Avoid taking photos with the sun directly behind you. The shadow will be unattractive and you may recognize your own image in the photo.
Photos made when the sun is behind the monument tend to glare...not good for a monument photo!
THE VERY BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS IS ON AN OVERCAST DAY FOR THE VERY BEST COLOR AND NO SHADOWS OR REFLECTIONS.
5) *MOST IMPORTANT* Plan your camera position. For stones that are flat to the ground, photos NEED TO BE TAKEN FROM ABOVE. For stones that are positioned vertically, PUT YOUR CAMERA AT WAIST LEVEL OR KNEEL DOWN TO TAKE THE PHOTO.
6) IF YOU CHOOSE TO POST A PHOTO COPIED FROM ANY PUBLICATION, PLEASE CROP, STRAIGHTEN AND CORRECT THE LIGHTING OF THE PICTURE BEFORE POSTING TO ANY OF MY MEMORIALS. IF YOU AREN'T ABLE TO EDIT THE PHOTO, PLEASE SEND TO ME TO EDIT AND POST. **NO DEATH CERTIFICATES OR OTHER DOCUMENTS POSTED TO MY MEMORIALS, PLEASE**
From Find-A-Grave Help: "SCANNED PHOTOS SHOUD BE CROPPED WITH NO SURROUNDING WHITE SPACE."
PLEASE BEFORE YOU CREATE A NEW MEMORIAL, CHECK TO SEE IF ONE FOR THAT PERSON HAS ALREADY BEEN POSTED. IF ONE HAS ALREADY BEEN POSTED AND THEY ARE RELATED TO YOU, KINDLY REQUEST A TRANSFER...MOST FIND-A-GRAVERS ARE HAPPY TO TRANSFER RELATIVES TO THEIR RESPECTIVE FAMILY MEMBERS.
PLEASE USE PROPER CHANNELS TO: SUBMIT REQUESTS, SUGGESTIONS, ETC. THROUGH THE EDIT TAB IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF THE MEMORIAL TO AVOID ERRORS. CLICK ON THE TAB AND THE SELECT "Suggest a correction or provide additional information: AND TYPE IN YOUR REQUEST. If you request the addition of an obit, please include publication source and date.
*PLEASE DO NOT ADD OBITS IN THE FLOWERS AND NOTES SECTION!*

NP....I'm glad to help...
|Maria Gilliland (Head Hunter)||Florence G..... 1926-|
I removed her acct as requested. As you know many markers are not dated after one has passed and I followed the Find A Grave rules as to those who are birthdates before 1931. Please let her know I meant no disrespect if it offended her. Thanks
