Because of fires, floods and loss, I started photographing all the markers in Jackson Co Michigan in Nov 2006. We've discovered the 1927 DAR WPA cemetery transcription project didn't have anyone actually walk any of the county cemeteries. They obtained the information from cemetery records, church records and neighbors. Fortunately for all of us this included records of those graves with no markers. Most of the early cemetery records have perished along with some of the cemeteries. Hopefully, we will be able to provide info for descendants of the early/current residents of Jackson County Michigan. By using census, marriage, death and local history information we try to make our entries as complete as possible. Email with info on your ancestors and we'll add them to any of our records. We'll be happy to help you in your search. I'm the County Keeper for Jackson Co.|
Currently, I'm working on adding maiden names to as many memorials as possible.
As of 22 Aug 2009 Jackson Co FAG volunteers have 66,501 burials recorded, by Jan 2010 72,323 burials and by Jan 2013 101,483 burials. Many of the cemeteries have been completed with pics.
Please request edits, corrections & transfers thru the SAC tab (edit tab on the memorial page) and not here on the home page.
Thanks to all those FAGer's who have trusted me to take care of their memorials and have transferred their memorials over to me while they take a leave from findagrave.

Deb, I ran across a posting of yours in Midland County, Jasper Twp. Cemetery for the above individual. This woman is a sister to my Great Grandfather, Moses O. De Witt, Leroy Twp, Ingham Co. buried Alchin Cemetery.
Our records show that this lady was Emily De Witt rather than Emma De Witt. Your information seems to show the opposite true. As her death certificate indicates some of our other information as being incorrect, it is very possible that you are right and we are wrong as to her given name and what she may have gone by with a nickname. What is the basis for your information? Are you related and do you have access to information that I don't? I am a stickler for documentation and if I can correct something that is wrong in my database, I want to do it.
Also in your bio, you indicate that your are the "county keeper" for Jackson County. What is the "county Keeper", what do you do, and does it allow you access into the vital records of Jackson County? I have been to Jackson County twice now looking for information and they are probably the worst county in the state, that I have had to deal with, in getting information. I live in "da UP, eh?" and it isn't easy to get down there and when I do I try to get the biggest bang for my buck, not only for money but for time spent as well. If you would be will and could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.
I am looking for another Great Grandfather of mine that seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth about 1857. He resided in Waterloo in the mid 1800's and his wife is buried in the Waterloo Cemetery. But there is no record of him.
If you would respond to this to kc8mld@gMail.com it would be appreciated.
Thanking you in advance. -mld=

Thank you for all you are doing. I visited Clarklake cemetery every week when I stayed with my grandmother, Shirley Preston Rowe, at her cottage on the lake. We watered all the flowers we could on the family plots.
Her only daughter, Winifred Dale Rowe (High) was my mother and married to Charles High.

Thank you for checking for a headstone for my husband's distant relative. How incredible that you are doing the entire Woodland Cemetery to know that there is no headstone for her! You have done a HUGE amount of work on the cemeteries in the Jackson area! What a great benefit to everyone who is looking for someone who is buried there!

In the search for info on my great great Aunt Julia (Grozinger) Walker/Stark/Klee I noticed the info for John Stark and her marriage listed her name as Julia Tompkins Walker. Where did you obtain that info because I have a photo of Julia with Charlie Tompkins. On the back it has "Aunt Julia & Uncle Charlie Tompkins" yet I know Julia maiden name was Grozinger? Also Julia Obit lists a "Brother, Charlie Tompkins?" I am wondering if she was married prior to the Walker marriage and Charlie was her brother in law not brother.

Deb, I changed my email address some time back and now find that I have no access to edit or correct any Find A Grave monuments entered under my previous one. (My email address has been changed with Find A Grave...now I can't get to anything.) Until this gets worked out, I am pretty well stymied. I appreciate getting your request...just can't do anything about it until Find A Grave wakes up. ---Linda
