Honoring the past generations, helping families to find their ancestors and finding out how many of us all have a connection and many more cuzins than we ever dreamed. Finding our ancestors and walking through the lands of times past.

I only work on genealogy on days ending in "Y"

For the cuzins I have met previously "Hi" and for the new cuzins I hope to meet "HI" to you to.
We have many many paths to walk that our ancestors walked, and our time here is in honor to them.

6-2013 NOTICE: PHOTOS of family members of my current lines - DO NOT TAKE without asking!!!! I have recently found my parents grandparents aunts uncles on other personal sites and have NO IDEA of when the cuzin took them or who they are. We are online to share information with family: BUT not without asking .. COPYRIGHT photos of precious parent /family photos etc are NOT TO BE TAKEN!!
Ask and see what happens ;-> !!!!

I leave "Daisys" on all family members that are in my data and lines [direct and extended].
I leave other flowers for memorials I have help link up and/or helped someone else with.
Other flowers also can mean I havent located or logged them in my data . We all have ALOT of branches and trees to climb and explore.

RE: howdy
Hey Vicki - well, another dead end. No luck on finding the father of Robert AGAIN!!

Hard to imagine not being able to do anything for a week or so, so I totally understand about planning and wanting to get a few things done around the house :) My mom's went very easy and she was back to herself in a few days, so all the best to you, yours might not be the 10 days or so!

We will keep in touch and pass in the night :) Take care.

Rhea Estep
Dry Run Cemetery
Hi Victoria,
My name is Rhea Estep and my husband is related to James McClellan Conley who you have posted in this cemetery. I live on Dry Run Road and am curious where this is located. Wondering if it is the cemetery where James McClellan's brother William Conley is buried.. known as Conley Cemetery. Or if it is the Adams Cemetery which has also been referred to as Dry Run Cemetery on some older death certificates.
My husband is the great grandson of William Conley and would be the gr gr nephew of James McClellan Conley. Thanks!!

GEORGE ANDERSON HARMON
I am inquiring of how we may be related through the below memorials I have created? You left flowers.
This has been one dickens of a brick wall to hit and I found the DC's.
Although DC's may be incorrect, these are pretty much on the head.
George Jackson & Bill(William Henry) Jackson where half brothers to my g-grandfather, Robert H. Hodge. George & Bill changed theirs names to Harmon. Very interesting story.
It is a very tangled web for sure seeing as Granny Anderson had been married several times as well as an unsure relationship with a George Harmon
I was wondering if you might can pinpoint the cemetery George and Sallie are in?
There are several Fairview Cemeteries in Virginia & in Ohio where his children moved.
I think they are buried in the Virginia Fairview.

Your help is appreciated.

RE: evening!!
Good Morning, well as you can tell I'm on my computer more in the morning - LOL!! Thank you again for transferring Robert's memorial to me. I had a chance to look yesterday evening but that was about all. You are so right that this is going to give us a few grey hairs, but it's not like I don't already have them - lol!!

A question? - what if someone else already has a memorial up for your family member, can you link to it? Start a new one, don't start a new one? I really appreciate all your help!

I had a epiphany yesterday evening, and will be running down some research today on Robert, wish me luck. I will update you and keep you posted on my findings if you would like? Glad to know you are from KY also - I don't think one could understand the "lifestyle" is one wasn't! And I totally understand about the hoarding of some people - I've run across it myself with some.

How are you recovering from your cataract surgery? My mom has surgery several months ago herself. Are you better?

Keep in touch,
Michele

FANNON CEMETERY STICKLEYVILLE
It is a good thing you only work on genealogy on days ending in "y". Too much of a good thing is bad for you. The wife and I photographed the FANNON Cemetery, any edits will be greatly appreciated as your eyesight allows.

RE: re Robert Hurt 66758215
Good Morning Vicki! Yes, you are so right, it might get a little slippery - lol!! Sure, you can transfer his memorial to me - if you can help me to know what to do :) I appreciate the sentiment and thank you for your help. Can anyone start a memorial? I don't know how one does it.

I did some research on Curran O. Hurt last night and while he did have a son named Robert B. Hurt, he is not the Robert that married Darthula Amelia Hughes, Durham, Dooley. Isn't that quite a name?? Darthula was born to her mother and father before a legal marriage, so on her birth certificate (?) she had the last name of Hughs, then mother married Durham, then divorced (?legal) and married John Dooley, he adopted the children of Durham. I usually put all her names because she is known by one or all of them, depending on who is searching for her. Robert and Darthula also had their first two children before the Marriage Bond was signed, but I'm thinking they had a "hand-fast" or "jump the broom" union, until the preacher could get out to them in the mountains or they could get in to the court house!

Glad you don't mind the novels - LOL! Thanks again for all y your help!

RE: re Robert Hurt 66758215
Thank you for the encouragement Vicki! It will get easier, I know, what doesn't help is the lagging computer and interruptions from my fur babies, always at the wrong times - lol! So, on Robert Hurt, the family story handed down my line is that Robert was illigitimate, started working for the Hurts, was "adopted", I don't think legally, and the only thing that changed was his last name. Supposedly, he also had a half-brother named Matt Walker. I do not know if Polly Hurt is his biological mother or not, but she was "raising" him, and/or he was living with her in 1880.

Now, I'm like you, I don't like to post stuff online unless I have documentation or proof, and Robert is proving very difficult in that area. What I do have is the 1880 Census for Perry County, KY that shows him living with Polly Hurt and his "siblings" or "half-siblings". This is the first time I can connect him and know this is MY Robert Hurt. I can find no census with them in 1870, I know from tax records that Polly Hurt was still in Perry County, KY (Troublesome Creek area) but it seems the census taker skipped her and her family somehow, because they are not on that census! So going backwards in time , I have not been able to find him. Going forward in the census's I find his marriage Bond, other census's and his grave, but I am getting conflicting information on his death location, and cannot get any responses returned that I inquire about, or funeral homes to get back to me, and there is NO death certificate in the several counties and states that I have been directed to.

What I find very interesting is that no one really wants to talk about him or his family, i.e. "my family". I don't know if it's a "if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all", or there are secrets, or .....what??

The marriage bond did not have the additional information filled out, so no luck there, and the census taker for 1870 just skipped over them, and then the whole 1890 census being burned up.

I do wonder if "Polly" is a nickname - some folks have said it could be for Mary, Nancy, Elizabeth so maybe for Martha too? I do know that Polly Hurt named her first daughter Martha, a coincidence you think? Maybe not!

Oh, on multiple census, Robert's date of birth was consistently the same and would be around 1866, but when he moved to Owsley County, KY on the 1920 Census his age changed and it became the 1868 DOB. Would you have a death certificate or any other document that proves his date of birth? Would you also know exactly where he died? I have been told that he died at his daughters home in Ohio, then was returned to Owsley County, KY for burial. One ancestor tells me that his body was prepared in a Booneville, KY funeral home, that a service was held for him in church in Levi, KY and of course, burial in Pebworth, the Combs Cem.

I would appreciate any help you can provide in shedding a light on him.

If Polly Hurt is not his biological mother, and this Martha Rogers is, then the whole sibling line becomes different. That's why I was inquiring as to where you came by this information.

Oh, you didn't mention how you are related to Robert Hurt?
Also, what kind of information can you put on FindaGrave?

Look forward to hearing from you, sorry for the novel - LOL!!

RE: re Robert Hurt 66758215
Hi Vicki! Just saw your message this morning - thanks for getting back to me so fast. I'm not sure why the picture turned it was straight when I posted it - I'll try and turn it - is there a way I can delete it first? I'm new here on FindaGrave :)

Can I ask how you are related to Robert Hurt? This ancestor has proved to be a challenge is searching and would appreciate comparing notes with another "Cuz"!

Oh, somehow I posted two flowers and notes yesterday, my computer was glitching and I didn't think it was working, so now there are two and I don't know how to get one off - help!!

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Sincerely,
Michele
