Consort and relic refer to a spouse, usually to women. A consort is a husband or wife of a living spouse. A relic is a widow.

Latin abbreviation: H.S.E.
hic situs est (here lies)

Latin abbreviation: H R
Hic Requiescit (here rests)

Latin abbreviation: AEC
Anno Emmanuelis Christi (In Christ Emmanuel)

Latin abbreviation: IHS"
Iesus Hominum Salvator (Jesus, Saviour of men)

"INRI" is an abbreviation for the Latin "Iesus Nazarenus, Rex Iudaeorum" ("Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews")

I typically do not put in calculated birth dates from the Aged information on a gravestone. Those dates tend to be incorrect.

latitude and longitude
To add latitude and longitude for a FindAGrave memorial, click on Edit Plot.

If you place the latitude and longitude in the URL of a browser, the browser will take you to that location. For example, copy and paste the following into the URL of a browser (include the comma and the space: 38.7338, -86.48588

If you download Google Earth (it is free software) and put in the search box the latitude and longitude (for example 38.7338, -86.48588), it will take you to the grave area.

I use Google Earth to find the latitude and longitude. I type in the latitude and longitude for the graveyard and then adjust the numbers until the pointer is on the gravestone.
Under Tools, Options, 3D View
- Decimal Degrees
Under Tools, Options, Navigation
- Do not automatically tilt while zooming

If you leave a space before the values, an error message, "values are not the correct format", will be returned.

Be sure to include the dash "-" for the longitude, otherwise the person will be buried in China.

Savanah "Vannie" McCain Nelson
Aug. 18, 1868
Lawrence County
Indiana, USA
Death: Jan. 13, 1941
Bloomington
Monroe County
Indiana, USA

I am wondering what kind of evidence you have to proof that this is the memorial for your "Vannie McCain"

I have a newspaper article (The Obituary) that strongly suggest that this is the memorial for Vannie Nelson that has a daughter named Mrs. Otto Baugh. That Mrs Otto Baugh is Bertha Ann Moore who married my great grandfather Otto Estel Baugh.
---------
reference: "Bloomington - Mrs, Vannie Nelson, 73 died today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Baugh of near Bloomington.... John R Deckard, 65, master mechanic in the limestone quarries, died today at the home of his son, Ralp Deckard.

The Indianapolis Star (Indianapolis, Indiana)14 Jan 1941, Tue".
--------

I have been looking for this connection for twenty years. What I do not see referenced is a connection to my family on the memorial. Do you have a family tree on Ancestry, I can reference?

I would like to see the records that you have if you do not mind as they could help both of us. Maybe together we can solve this mystery.

If you are not a grandchild of this Vannie Neslon, I would ask for a transfer please to Chambers (#48206318) within find a grave rules please.

Best regards

Swain J Andrews
Hello,

I am trying to locate the wife of Swain (Swan) J Andrews.

The 1910 US Census shows a "May M" to be his wife.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

Franco Magno
I've been researching the Mango changed to Magnus family. You are correct that Franco's parents are Pasquale Magnus and Angiolina Carnevale Magnus.

In regards to Westly Burris Find A Grave page it first was done by Jim Bohn. When I mentioned to him Westly was a Great Uncle, he turned the page over to me. I did go to the the other page, not that much about Westly there as to what I have. I would rather keep this page for other genealogists to read about. Best Regards Camdin

was Mary his wife?
Yes! second marriage for both. Mary M. Williams married Archibald Dennis Jan.9,1865 and he died April 1,1870. In the 1880 census Mary is wife of John Henry Cremer (sic) occupation: Cooper and two Dennis children are listed as well as Amanda (most likely "Minnie") etc. 1880 census location is Orleans township, Orange County, Indiana.
John Henry Creamer had married Mary M. Dennis
Oct.2,1873 Wash.Co.,Ind.
Thanks for the obit info for Eleanor Adams and Robt. Pulliam. I added it. I had seen it on Ancestry. I don't have a subscription to Ancestry but use it at my local library.
Well, of course I couldn't find John Henry as you just added him yesterday.
I really must now get out of this rabbit hole and return to Daviess County. Thanks again. Lily
