Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love doing genealogy, love going to cemeteries, searching, and taking pictures for others. I have worked on my own family genealogy since the 1970s.

I DO NOT TRANSFER memorials from my message page. Please use the edit tab on the memorial page that you want transferred.

Don't hesitate to use the PHOTOS. However, please, do not copy my photos to or other sites without giving me credit. Simply indicate: Mountain Traveler 2006-2014 @ Find A Grave. I just think this is a courtesy to the time and effort taken to obtain the photos.

Please DON'T DUPLICATE memorials in Cemeteries and do NOT make duplicate cemeteries. Check all name possibilities and spellings before adding a new name.

Thank you!

RE: Wenzel Dietz
I apologize for the delay in response.

The Joseph Dietz that I am aware of was born 04/14/1849, married to Anna Maria Horcher (1858- )married 06/15/1878 in Buffalo Grove, Lake, Illinois and immigrated with parents John and Elizabeth (Slagle) also in 1968 with brother Wenzel Dietz (1855-1926).

I am not aware of Joseph ever living in LaSalle or Livingston Counties.

Hope this is some help.

Regards, RWS

RE: Duplicate photo
You don't - We have found that F-A-G is full of errors, so the way we've always progressed is to do our field survey, enter it in either Excel or Open Office, then promote it to TNGENWEB. Any entries into F-A-G are strictly manual for us. We do not view F-A-G as an authoritative source, simply another tool for research. I do try to offer corrections through F-A-G edit process, and I try to get cemetery names corrected, in addition to photographs. I do not personally promote data to TNGENWEB - we have a coordinator for Washington County and there's one for Sullivan. When I do a survey, I use Excel, then send it to Betty Jane, who is our coordinator. I was with her yesterday and mentioned you to her - she doesn't recall knowing you, at least by Mountain Traveler. I can put you in touch with her if you are interested in being a TNGENWEB person for Greene County.

RE: Duplicate photo
Do you have a website where you post the suveys? We use TNGENWEB. Perhaps you know Betty Jane Hylton - she's our coordinator and Donna Briggs does Sullivan County. We actually have Lovelace from about 10 years ago. We are just about complete, although, in this work, it's never done. I mostly do slogging through the briars, etc, plus I do deed work for the team. I've been searching for the "missing" ones in the back of the Bennett books - I have found over half of them. I also am the Heritage Alliance graveyard guy, and do educational and preservation work. We just did an historic play in the Old JBO Cemetery (Rocky Hill).

RE: Duplicate photo
You bet - took care of it. Thanks for all your work out there. I've been trying to stay closer to Jonesborough these days. I am a member of the cemetery survey team here, as well as the Heritage Alliance "graveyard guy", so I've been trying to set foot in every burial ground that we've recorded in Washington County - nearly 500 of them. Just about got it. Maybe I'll run into you out there one day. Merry Christmas. Gordon (CSTNET)

You have done so much for the cemeteries in documenting them. Thank you so Much. I read your bio and have you been taking pictures of cemeteries for several years? I don't have that much time but I wish I did. Your pictures are great. Thanks for the information.
Thanks again

Thank you for you do!! I did make some correction in the note form. Mary is my Mother, and for the sake of genealogy I just wanted to make some corrections. I realize this was from the obit., but as we fellow genealogist know one is not in the best frame of mind when giving information at the Funeral Home.

RE: Rollie Cochran 77458472
Perfect! Thanks so much! I'm still searching for his mother's gravesite - could be that she doesn't have a stone; she died young; doesn't seem to have a memorial on findagrave so I am still searching records. Did I ask you to link Rollie to his father? John B Cochran - # 61230518 ; John is buried with his 2nd wife, Alice Goode Cochran.

RE: photos, etc
Also as I clicked off the updates just now, I realized I dumped too many of the Armentrout family memorials on you last night as I sat here connecting records with them and each other. Sorry, but you seem to have handled them very well. I do appreciate your help and your work. Thank you again. My husband's father was born in Tennessee and has many relatives to find records for...
