I am originally from Chicago and now live in Northwest Indiana. I travel across the state of Indiana for work, so I try and find cemeteries along the way. I have family in Fayette Co, Alabama. I started out by adding the names of family members, and now add as much as I can, hoping that it will help someone who is looking for their family. |
My entries for Maury County, Tennessee are posted with the permission of Wayne Austin, and come from his site;

|B.A.Smith||RE: Charles Jackson Smith|
I am not a descendant of Charles Jackson Smith. My husband is a descendant of the George Smith of Frederick County, Maryland. His descendant, Daniel Smith migrated to Stark County, Ohio where the family remained for a couple centuries. I don't see Charles Jackson Smith anywhere in the family tree. It doesn't sound like I can be of any help, but let me know if I can.
|Sheila Morring||RE: Vinnie Bell Mills Morring|
Vinnie is the daughter of George Washington Mills born 1869 and Fannie Elizabeth Gray born 1873, all are buried in Madison Co. Alabama. I did go and add her parents to her page. I don't know how your Robert Mills is connected to George. George's father is John Fletcher Mills born 1844 in TN died 1914. Might be a connection somewhere just got to keep looking.
Please keep my family in your prayers following the loss of my uncle Franklin Rogers, who passed away yesterday from cancer. If you have time I would appreciate virtual flowers for his Find A Grave memorial 128627148. I am very blessed to have my friends on this site. Thank you,

I have corrected a typo in the posting I provided for you for members of the Ball family on several of the Ball posts. I had used the word "sisters" instead of "daughters" when referring to the daughters of B.L. and Sallie Indiana Hayes Ball. I left off Claude Ball, and he has been added to the corrected version.
If you are kind enough to make the correction or addition to the site, I would appreciate you using this version on the listing for those individuals buried in this cemetery who are listed below.
This is what it should have read. Several of these children are buried in the Shane Cemetery as well as BL's second wife, S.E. Ball and his first wife, Sallie.
Broomfield Leander (B.L.) Ball and his wife Sallie Indiana Hayes Ball, were married in Giles County, Tenn., March 2., 1873. Their sons were John Hugh "Jehu" Ball, 1877-1933, Rufus Tolbert Ball, 1873-1952, Bascum Texas "Bass" Ball, 1878-1957, Thomas Larimore, 1886-1955, Claude Ball, 1884-1953, and Willie Mack Ball, 1889-1951. Their daughters were Cora Lee Ball Carvell, 1881-1956, Anna Rebecca Ball Green, 1892-1960, and Joseph Ethel Ball Binkley, 1895-1923. B.L. and Sallie are buried in the Shane Cemetery in Culleoka, Maury County, Tenn. Sallie was born in Granville County, N.C., and moved to Giles County, Tenn., as a small child. Sallie was the daughter of Stephen Hayes and Rebecca Puryear Hayes, both of Granville County, N.C. Stephen's father was Simeon Hayes and his mother was Mary Hester. Rebecca's father was Robert Harmon Puryear and her mother was Rebecca ?. Broomfield was born in Giles County, Tenn., and was the son of John D. Ball, a native of North Carolina, who was the son of John Ball, who brought his family to Giles County in the 1830s. Leander's mother, Rhoda Carpenter Ball, was the daughter of Hensley Carpenter and Rhoda Mayes Carpenter, both of Amherst County, Va., who came to Giles County, Tenn., before 1820. Rhoda Mayes' father was Robert Mayes (mother was Elizabeth ?). Hensley's father was Benjamin Carpenter (mother was Mary ?).

I see you have used my photo of Broomfield Leander Ball and his wife Sallie Indiana Hayes Ball (my ancestors) that I posted as though it is a photo of Ella Ball. This is a family photo that hung on the wall of Sallie and Broomfield's daughter's home until her death. It is now privately owned by my cousin. I shared this for accuracy, and now it is improperly linked. Broomfield Leander Ball was born March 5, 1851 and died Nov. 7, 1928. He married Sallie Indiana Hayes on March 2, 1873, in Giles County, Tenn., where he was born. Sallie was born in North Carolina in Dec. of 1854. She died Jan. 17, 1918. They had nine children. This photo of them was made the same day they had a family portrait made with all of their children, including my great grandmother, Cora. Please correct this.

I asked you on 8 December already to link Kathryn to her parents Reinder Van Til, Find A Grave nr. 107534772, and Lamke, Find A Grave nr. 107561120, but I haven't seen any (re)action from you yet ....
If you'll don't react now within two weks I'm forced to create a "double memorial".

I am not certain he is buried there. I would assume he was buried beside Marthat Pearl.
Since he died 1974, I know my Grandmother would have had the date put on the grave. She has be gone since 1990 and my
Mom passed on 2010. Had I known this was in question, I would have surely asked her before she passed. I will surely continue to
pursue this and if you know for a fact he is buried there, please let me know. This is the rest of his information.
I am his G Granddaughter by Annie Louise Thompson, my Mom was Jacquelyn Louise Brown.
