"It seems to me that the earth may be borrowed but not bought. It may be used but not owned. It gives itself in response to love and tending.... But we are tenants and not possessors, lovers and not masters. The Planet belongs to the wind and the rain, to the sun and the seasons, to the cosmic secrecy of seed, and beyond all, to time."|
My mother passed away in 1999 and I was the recipient of boxes and boxes of old photographs and memorabilia from courageous departed ancestors who emigrated here and my interest in genealogy began. Now, with the help of Find A Grave, I have been able to locate many family members' graves. Thanks for helping fill in the blanks. And now that I have become a volunteer, I hope to pay it forward.

Hi Charlene, I intended to "friend" you, but there are several listed with your name. I don't want to get the wrong one. Try to "friend me" That may work better.
Have you ever traveled the route Sherman took on the march to the sea?? That's on my bucket list.

May I use the grave marker photo that you contributed to the Find A Grave memorial for George Bassett, to post on the Vermont Civil War site? ( www.vermontcivilwar.org)
You will receive credit for this.
Thank you for your consideration. Deanna French

As we are related to the John Groves & Catherine Duffy line and I read your beautiful story, is there anything that you are willing to share with me. I am the one who posted some of the original grave marker pictures of the family markers.
I am a grand daughter of Thomas Oscar Groves and would love to know or have information to share and meet more relatives. I have info on the Loving line.

Ms Patton - Unfortunately, there is an error in Thomas St Leger's memorial. In fact, we don't seem to know where he is buried. The chapel and tomb that you picture here is actually that of Sir Thomas' daughter, Lady Anne St Leger Manners, Baroness Ros of Helmsley and her spouse, Sir George, 11th Lord Ros of Helmsley Manners.
Sir Thomas St Leger's wife Anne Plantagenet, Duchess of Exeter (and sister of the King), died giving birth to their daughter Anne (1475). Thus Lady Anne was orphaned when Sir Thomas was executed in 1483.
Sir Thomas and Lady Anne Plantagenet are my 15th great-grandparents. Lord and Lady Ros of Helmsley Manners are my 14th great-grandparents.
I hope this is helpful. Good luck in your continuing research. Many of us are grateful for your efforts.

I just saw your message in memorial #67781667 for Mary Warren. Just trying to verify how you know that she is in fact buried in Burial Hill rather than White Horse Cemetery. Do you know if this is also true for her husband, Robert Bartlett? He is also listed as being buried in White Horse Cemetery and this memorial was also created by margaret. Thank you for your assistance.

You are welcome.
|Alexis||RE: Ann Ivory Western Cemetery|
It happened years ago, the bodies were taken out of crypts, bodies were dug up. The city had to remove the bodies left, bury them in an unmarked area and level the crypts on the hill. It's heartbreaking to have someone's loved one to be desectrated.

I am sorry I could not find her. It is horrible that the cemetery was vandalized and graves and tombs were destroyed.

Most of the 1600 era graves suffered vandalism. They were moved to an unmarked area. There is no stone for Ann. I continue to search for her, but I have not been able to locate her.
