"Everyone deserves to be remembered"

**If I have requested a link - thank you, thank you for putting these families together. Thank you to all who check their edits often.**

Find A Grave memorials should be viewed as works in progress. I will gladly link families, add tidbits to memorials or correct my errors.

**PLEASE NOTE** If I have posted a memorial and there is no monument photo and you have one, please feel free to add one to my memorials. I do not own the memorial....just simply the "caretaker" at the moment!

PHOTOS: Please note that photos are not always good due to the time of day of photo and some are old markers in poor condition which need cleaning, etc., but they are worth a view to someone searching for an ancestor. I realize I have lots of poor quality photos posted, but it would take a long time to redo them all. The only time I add an "overview" photo to someone else memorial is to show location which is a great help in finding a marker in a large area and/or to add data on the photo caption.

BIO: Millions of folks read funeral notices online, so they are public knowledge. Sometimes an excerpt is added or perhaps more data to a memorial, but often that information assists genealogist in making family ties. When a newspaper or funeral home has already published a name in an obituary you are no longer anonymous.

MEMORIALS: Excluding my own kin, my memorials are up for grabs...please use the "edit" and add your FAG ID# to your request. Many of my memorials are no kin to me, just honoring their memory.

PHOTO REQUEST: We are volunteers, so let's be kind to one another. Thank the volunteer for taking your photo! If you are rude or disrespectful it only reflects on you. There are four things that you cannot recover in life: (1) The Stone--after it's thrown, (2) The Word--after it's said, (3) The Occasion--after it's missed, (4) The Time--after it's gone.

PILGRIMS REST CEMETERY: Southside, Etowah County, Alabama. New book, EDITION II, packed full of family history. All of Edition I was included, as well as six more years of burials, additional information found, and more than hundred burials without tombstones that we were unaware of when the first book was compiled. 200 pages of burials dating back to 1859 through Nov. 31, 2014. Eighteen Confederate War veterans buried in this cemetery as well as numerous WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and other veterans who have served in the military. If interested, email: (ngl serves as president of Pilgrims Rest Cemetery Board of Directors)

No death inscription on monument when photo taken Sept. 7, 2015. (ngl)

The creator of the memorial wishes to have photos of the tombstones for viewing on the memorial. Please do not add so many blurred photos that they push the monument photos to the bottom of the memorial. Please review your photos and notice how blurred they are. I would never do that for any Find A Grave contributor and I wish for the same respect for memorials I have entered. Thank you kindly!

A request was made for the Bell's memorials for photos with no mention that they wanted only one photo. Etowah County volunteer found graves and made photos of the monument and an overview photo to assist other researchers in finding these grave. Since no memorials had been entered at that time for the daughter, Louise, and son-in-law, Harold, the volunteer entered memorials for them. This is usual practice when a photo volunteer finds other family members in the same family plot. Find A Grave volunteer/submitter knew Mr. & Mrs. Bell for a long time before their deaths.

The person (#48721692) who requested photos wanted all photos to be deleted. All photos were deleted by ngl, as well as the memorial for Louise entered on Sept. 7th. No request was made for a transfer. A new memorial was entered by #48721692 with no photos and data.

On Sept. 29, 2015, Find A Grave merged the newer memorial for Louise (entered by family member) with this memorial and Find A Grave re-entered this memorial with data and photos. This action was reviewed by Find A Grave staff when a question was asked by photo volunteer if photo request had been fulfilled and after photos posted that the person requesting could ask for deletion of all photos. Usually, when a request is made and fulfilled most likely the one requesting is appreciative of getting a photo. It takes gasoline, time and many hours to fulfill requests, so it has to a true commitment of a Find A Grave volunteer to help one another.

Please note that creator of the memorial (ngl) had no way of merging and re-entering this memorial. Find A Grave did the merging and re-entering. Find A Grave photo volunteer was only trying to fulfill a request and then requested to delete all photos after searching a large section of the cemetery to find graves. This is very discouraging to all photo volunteers to put time and effort into fulfilling a request and then asked for posted photos to be deleted. This is an unfortunate incident. Whatever Find A Grave wished to do about the memorial and photos is fine with submitter ngl.
