I have connected him to his mother.

Please use the EDIT button at the right top of the memorial when you want something done. It really makes it easier to do an edit.

Thanks,
Nan

Yes, Archibald/Archy/Archey was a Hall the son of Henry's brother William, Jr. I believe Archy was living with his uncle Henry on that census. That census does not identify those in the household. We are usually right in guessing that they are a wife and children, but at times that is not correct. Henry's intestate probate record mentions children E. Jane, Harrison, William and Mary. NO ARCHIBALD. William, Jr.'s will left almost his whole estate to one son, but it was challenged and thrown out. Archibald/Archy inherited a considerable sum from his father along with his other siblings. Actually the original will did also prove Archibald's heritage, too, because his father identified him as a son in forgiving a loan to Archy as his legacy.

Henry Hall
I misspoke. It is Henry's probate papers, not his will, that names 4 of his children. Archibald in not listed, and he was living in 1863. Caroline is also not listed; she likely predeceased her father.

Thanks for the note. Archibald/Archy Hall was the son of William Hall, Jr., not Henry. Archibald is not listed in Henry's will, but he is listed in William, Jr.'s. And he signed receipts when parts of William, Jr.'s estate was paid to him. I expect that Archy in 1850 was living in the household of his Uncle Henry and working for him. Archy may have been at odds with or estranged from his family of origin; he moved to Texas (Erath Co. 1860 Census & Comanche Co. 1870) and had a family then moved to Missouri and died there in 1880, leaving his children orphaned.

Thanks for the corrections. I've made them and then transferred Lyman and wife Mary to you, since you are related. Let me know if you'd like any of the other Story memorials in this cemetery.
