Bio and Links
Bio Photo The number of memorials for Leverington Cemetery is now near 10,500. I am saddened by the number of babies, children and young adults that are buried here, their numbers are great and the pain that their parents went through. there are children in the same family that were buried the same day, in a few cases it appears parents and children buried the same day, make me think possibly a house fire. It make you appreciate today's technologies and what it does to save lives.

There appears to be over 13,000 burials here, most without markers, I will finish with photos here through this spring and summer.

For those who are interested the first two burials here were:
Lavinia Battersby
Ann L Battersby
On Feb 7, 1857

Children of James Battersby of Manayunk

There are no markers for these children

They are the first first burials for Leverington and does not include the burials behind Roxborough Baptist Church which was late incorporated into Leverington.

Searfoss
Hi Donna, I think we have 'spoken' before. Anyway I have been doing research on my Mom's Searfoss family. I see you have a 'bio' and grave for a living Kathryn Searfoss. I 'have' her 1st husband and his parents. Anyway, she is still alive---I looked her up, got her number and just called her. She is Kathryn Searfoss linked to Allen W. Searfoss, Jr. It was exciting to chat with her; she's got photos and info for me. She has no children or living family so she might give me the photos & misc.

Traci's Mom
Token you left for Traci Fields
Thank you very much for the token you left for my angel daughter Traci. She was a wonderful gift from GOD, and she's in my heart and mind every single day. Her passing has left major holes in the hearts of her family and friends.

I appreciate you helping to reach my goal of 5,000 tokens by her birthday, November 20th. Actually, thanks to you and other findagravers, so far today Traci has received 6,026 flowers/tokens. That makes my family and I extremely happy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I'm thankful and blessed for your kindness. GOD bless you for your heavenly heart.

I am so overwhelmed with all the findagrave friends requesting flowers/tokens for my Traci. Thank you ever so much!

This is something I wrote for Traci:

It was a cold, quiet night at the cemetery. The snow was falling gently to the ground. The only sound that could be heard was the whistling of the wind. Off in the distance I suddenly heard the tiny sound of jingling bells. I looked around and wondered where the life was in the stillness of this cemetery.

As I gazed around, I saw a ray of moonbeam shining down on a small Christmas tree.

I thought to myself, "This is where the life is in the cemetery!"

Ring the bells this holiday season in memory of those you love.

She is mainly interested in who owned the house at 5608 Ridge Ave, in Roxborough. She thinks it was Frank Kenworthy,She lived there in the 1940s & is interested in any information you can offer. She knows it was remodeled in the early 1900s. My e-mail address is L mlsrn34@yahoo.com. Thanking you in advance. Peggy Scully for Cass Monaghan

RE: Homiller's
Hi Donna,
Thank you for your information. I have been trying to find what happened to Sarah Exley and then coming upon a wedding announcement in the newspaper from 1894, I was able to find her married name. Now I'm tracing the Homiller line. I would love to be able to add information to the family members I'm connected with. Would you need me to advise which ones and request the transfers, or are you able to do this without my requests?
Thanks again for all your work. I'm in Canada and unable to get into the cemeteries in Phila.
Happy digging! Regards, Lavelle #47731331
