RE: Prefix of CMSGT for Herbert Henry Morgan -

Thanks for your consideration of my request.

I understand and concur with your point that SGT and CMSGT are definitely not the same, but I was just operating within the FindAGrave parameters. I know I'm not the first to have had prior issues regarding the available choices. Their FAQ position is: "We recommend choosing the closest option (e.g., choose 'sergeant' for 'staff sergeant'). We know this drives some military people crazy because it is not as technically accurate as it could be, but it is the compromise we have chosen."

That last statement's intent is clearer to me when I substitute the word "compromise" with "censorship". Because that prefix censorship logic affects not just the military, but extends disregard to most of law enforcement, firemen, state/national Senators and Representatives, Governors, Ambassadors, Cabinet members, Presidents, etc. However, there's accommodation for all the Knights ("Sirs"), Ladies, Queens, Kings, Popes and Saints in our (American) society. And that's a management decision by the FindAGrave site ownership, who appear to use Juliet's Shakespearean logic that "What's in a name" isn't important.

Considering all their other 'rules' for integrity and compliance on this site, you'd hardly think expanded inclusion of documented title/prefix would be an issue. And it wouldn't be, if only FindAGrave deemed it important enough not to "compromise" them. Seems to me that if a title/prefix was significant in a person's lifetime and usually appears on their headstone, that person's memorial deserves the same respect and reputation in both our memories and on this site. Not allowing users to denote that is shoebox mentality - modification of history by exclusion - the essence of censorship. So much for integrity.

Go figure. I'm stepping off the soapbox.

Thanks again for your consideration.

RE: Photo
It's sad how little I know about their family but Paplaycyk (forgot how it is spelled) was her maiden name. Don't you think it a little odd that she shares a stone with her blood family. Her husband was in the military and I thought he would be there. Oddly enough, I can't find him listed in the cemetery. He died several years ago, as well.
Connie and Colonel McKenzie had one son who we lost touch with. I am going to try and find them and sort this out. Guess it doesn't matter a lot, but it does to me. Thank you again. Shirley C. McKenzie.

Photo of Headstone
Dear LKat. I would like your permission to copy the photograph of Cornelia F McKenzie, b March 1919 died 10/29/91 and buried at Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery. Connie was my sister-in-law by marriage (our husbands were 1/2 brothers). I want it for my family scrapbook and not for any public use.
Thank you, Shirley (Cartwright) McKenzie.

Headstone photos
My grandparents are Floyd H. and Mae B. Bilke. Thank you for the pictures of their headstones. I had never seen them until tonight as I was young when they passed and lived out of state, so I didn't get to go to their funerals, nor have I been to Ft. Sam Houston to see them myself. I am so very grateful.
