Summer is the time of greatest growth. The crops are coming into their fullness. Gardens are fragrant with flowers and fruit trees. Vegetables ripen ready become ingredients for a summer meal. |
It is also a time of heat, bright sunshine and a tendency to seek shade, cool and quiet. I'm right in line with this direction preferring early morning walks along Shore Road to crowded and noisy street festivals later in the day.
Summer days invite us to cloud watch, find rainbows in the spray of the garden hose or gather flowers, vines and branches to dry and make into wreaths later. I find it the balancing point of the year where vacation means to vacate, to leave behind completely the hustle bustle of life. During one of these times of empty space life is anything but dull. If you listen carefully you will be inspired to move into the fullness and blossoming your own inner gifts.
When On A Summer's Morn
by William Henry Davies
When on a summer's morn I wake,
And open my two eyes,
Out to the clear, born-singing rills
My bird-like spirit flies.
To hear the Blackbird, Cuckoo, Thrush,
Or any bird in song;
And common leaves that hum all day
Without a throat or tongue.
And when Time strikes the hour for sleep,
Back in my room alone,
My heart has many a sweet bird's song --
And one that's all my own

And a happy, healthy 2016 to you, also!
|Rhonda C. Poynter/Gannon/Friends||Hi and Hugs|
I am finally getting caught up on my messages - I do remember you answering me awhile back right after the San Bernardino attack, but I don't think I answered you - I had strep throat, then Gannon got mild pneumonia, then he had a surgery and so we have just been in the hospital or sleeping, it seems, for a month. I remember you telling me about your experiences re 9/11 - Emily, I completely believe your 'feeling' to quit your job when you did. Dad was very into that type of intuition - he said that it was the Indian in him -, and Mom also had dreams, hunches, etc. Well, we grew up around knowing that we weren't crackers if we had a hunch, whatever, and one of my personal stories is something I have written about here and there, and every word of it is true: I love planes and flying, always have, and cried like the wind when my neurologist said neither Gannon nor I could ever fly again...I dream about flying, and miss it so badly. So...no fear of flight at all...anyhow, in 1979, I was supposed to fly out a specific day to a friend's, and I was as far as the terminal, standing in line for departure. Something literally was pushing on my shoulders - and no, I don't care who reads this on your page and laughs -, I could actually feel a pressure on my neck and shoulders. I stepped out of line to get a drink of water - this was long before common bottles of water being in tow -, and stood there, wondering. God knows had I known what would happen, of course I would have told everybody else to haul backside with me, but I didn't know what was wrong. I began to walk back toward passenger line up, and again felt, for lack of a better word, STOP. Even now, when I am typing this, I recall that feeling, E - I backed up, turned around and walked away. Yes, all this time later I think about what happened and could I have stopped it - I don't know. But I walked and walked the terminal, not looking back, not sure what I was feeling - I got to a row of seats and remember sinking into a chair. I felt as though I was almost asleep but awake...my flight took off, got overhead, banked into a spin and crashed - one of the first "caught on camera" events (anybody around my age or older will know exactly what event I am talking about), a couple taking photos caught it on film. Now...just like your 9/11 story: What if you had not quit your job, what if I had gotten on the plane? We don't know, because it wasn't meant to have those endings. I have been greatly affected by my event my entire life; I have never ignored dreams, hunches, etc. again. And I have had plenty, and they have given me guidance...I think, in my own opinion (which of course, with it and five dollars, you can get a cup of coffee - ha!), anyhow, I think that God, our angels, whatever is your belief, will let you know that you've got back up however possible, and yes, sometimes it's a 'feeling', a "Hey, listen up..."> But that's just my opinion. At any rate, how lucky we are that you listened to your hint, and what wonderful things you still have to accomplish before you. =) Gannon and I are always thinking of you and yours, and hope that you have a peaceful holiday weekend - will try to catch up on my visiting asap, I promise. Take Care - hugs, RCP and Gannon Blue

Gannon and I hope that you're feeling better soon...we certainly know the issues of health matters acting up. =( I am not online much right now - what else is new? -, and so I am sending you holiday hugs and love now; I certainly hope that 2016 is a blessed year for all of us. We're lucky enough to be able to stay home and write (me) and watch telly all day (Gannon) for the next few weeks except for a couple of dr. check ups, and I have got to tell you, we are sure grateful for it. Very, very long year...but I think so many folks have had that kind of year. And the stress of the political situation...the latest event, the San Bernardino attack, happened not that far away from us, and boy, it really shook us up, Emily - I don't get frightened easily, but I am really beginning to wonder what in the world is going on in society, and where we are headed. Anyhow! Take good, good care and know that we are thinking of you; come on, 2016! Hugs, RCP and Gannon Blue
