Bio and Links
Bio Photo It seems no matter where my family lived growing up we always lived within walking distance of a very old small cemetery. I grew up taking many walks through the cemeteries and reading the enscriptions on the old headstones and wondering what thier lives were like. So when I found this website I thought it was GREAT! I became a find a grave volunteer photographer and really enjoy traveling to all of the cemeteries around Iowa. I don't think many people are aware of the different kinds of unusual cemeteries there are out there! A little about what I do when I get a photo request: I first look to see if there are many in that cemetery listed on find a grave and I print out the list if it isn't very long. Then I go and take photos of not only the one requested but also of any others listed for that cemetery that do not yet have a gravestone listed. I will post the photo. If I have posted one on one of your ancestors and you don't want it there please just let me know and I will remove it! Also I take any photos of head stones with the same last name of the person requested and send them to the requestor if they are not listed on find a grave. The reason I do this is maybe the requestor doesn't know their ancestor is buried in that cemetery or they haven't gotten around to posting that person yet. This way they will have the photo when they decide to post them. Also if I have posted a photo of a headstone on your site please be sure to click on the photo because I always write down what the headstone says. Sometimes a given name might be spelled differently or the dates might be different from what the person has posted. And I will post what ever scripture might be on the stone that I can make out.

RE: Cilek Headstones
I added find-a-grave memorials for Jacob and Marie Cilek. It would be great if you could add the headstone photos you took. I am not sure how they are related to the Cileks in my tree, Jacob Cilek may have been a brother or a cousin of Prokop. But I was able to find information on their births and deaths and burials, so I did add find-a-grave memorials for them. Thanks for all your help!

Cilek Headstones
Thank you very much for the headstone photographs of the graves of Prokop Cilek and of Michael and Frances Cilek. I didn't have the death year for Frances until now. Thank you. Also thank you for the headstone transcription for Prokop Cilek. Brez is the Czech abbreviation for March, so now I know he died 20 March 1891. I appreciate all of the time you took to do this!
