I started a family tree at the beginning of 2009 and I guess one thing leads to another. I have found a lot of info here that has helped in my family search.

RE: Confederate Graves at Blandford
Hi Sue,
I haven't heard anything specific about it. Generally speaking, flags that are placed on graves in Blandford are temporary anyway - it's possible that flags placed around Memorial Day are being removed because they are faded or damaged, though it doesn't seem as though the cemetery has a set policy for such a thing. I suppose it's equally possible that some folks may have taken their own initiative in light of current events to remove a potentially offensive symbol, whether they are right or wrong, well that's a matter of opinion and historical perspective I suppose! I haven't been out there lately but if it's the latter, I certainly hope they leave the vitriol against the flags and don't do anything like vandalize any of the Confederate monuments.

Johann Georg Essig
Hi Sue, Please add Johann Georg Essig 39760665 as father to Nellie Essig Eanes. I tried, but since I had already edited on Salome Burkhardt Essig, could not add another change.. Hope all goes well with you. gp

RE: Photo Request
It's been a while since I've been there but the people I added were listed on the site I sent you
http://brunswickcemeteries.org/HTML/braswell.htm
this cemetery is right behind Ida Braswell Babb's house. She was my grandddaddy's sister, Warren's granddaughter. She is the only one still alive of my granddaddy's siblings. The graves are of Warren D Braswell (CSA headstone), Richard & Ellen Braswell, Margaret Braswell Mendez (daughter of Richard), Ruth Elizabeth Buckner (daughter of Richard), Mary Buckner Holland (daughter of Ruth). Warren's wife Margaret is said to be buried there too but there isn't a headstone. I need to go there and see Ida and take more pictures, I'm only about 20 minutes away.

Louisiana Jane Carroll
Hello:
Her maiden name was Louisiana Jane Carroll. She was born about 1853 in Petersburg, Virginia to Jessie W. and Susan Early Miles Carroll. She died March 11, 1916. Both of her parents are buried in Blandford Cemetery and are already on Findagrave. Louisiana married John W. Wheary. He was born about 1851 in Maryland to Joseph and Ann Maria Wheary. He died April 15, 1883 in Petersburg. He is buried in Blandford Cemetery. Both of his parents are also buried in Blandford Cemetery and are already on Findagrave. John and Louisiana's son Laurence Petrie Wheary is also buried in Blandford Cemetery and is on Findagrave. They also had a daughter, Susan Ann Wheary, who was born about 1876 in Ettrick, Virginia. She died August 13, 1892 in Petersburg and is buried in Blandford Cemetery.

This info was sent to my from someone that thanked me for adding Louisiana. Hope this helps.

RE: Memorial Transfer
Hi Sue! Well I don't see any mention of Caroline Eanes in the survey of Blandford from 1992ish - but that's hardly conclusive. Angela at the office has been a wonderful help in locating records, I hope she's able to assist you with this one! Plus she's super nice.

I hope to be out there more as the weather gets nicer, keep an eye out for the redhead with a camera!

Mandy

P.S. Also if I've listed any more of your ancestors, I'd be delighted to transfer them, I don't care if it's withing findagrave's 4 generation rule or not. :)
