I live in Marshall Co. AL, and have for some 55 years. Like most people on find a grave I love genealogy. I have been using this site for some time in finding my family. Someone asked me if I had ever thought about helping find a grave with taking pictures. I challenge you to join in this group of people. Find an old cemetery, and start taking pictures. These old stones are not going to hold up to nature.|
My family list includes: Birdsong, Brumbeloe, Cobb, Cornelius, Culpepper, Davis, Dobbins, Edmonson, Garrett, Gilbreath, Gorham, Jordan, Larmore, Martin, Pruitt, Roden, and Sims.
You need to claim a photo request before you take a picture. This way no one else goes out of their way to take the picture and the photo request will be fulfilled. Please do not post a picture on a memorial that has been claimed by someone else. The photo request will not go away when you do this, and you do not get credit for the pictures.
I have chalked stones in the past, but due to rules brought to my attention I will not be able to chalk stones any more. Please see: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?searchArg=chalk&page=listFaqs#96
Fill free to send any edits you may need by using the edit button. I will be glad to transfer any memorial I have opened unless they are my family. Any picture I have taken you can copy, I just ask that you give find a grave the credit. This is a wonderful site for genealogy study.

You're very welcome Nancy. It's a pleasure helping a fellow volunteer who has taken so many pictures for others. Thanks for the offer to help me with photos in AL.

Hello Nancy. I hope everything is going well. I ran across this bit of information and wondered if you were familiar with it. Pasting it here as I found it: Source: "The Chinabeny Tree Colliers," by Dwight A. Collier. . Thomas and wife are buried in the Old Collier Cemetery near Abertsville, Alabama off of Highway 75 on Needmore Road in a wooded area near 599 Needmore Road. The property is owned by a Mr. Turner. The location is found in "The Cemetery Records ofMarshall County 1973 by Louise Mayben Jocob. There are twelve markers which could be headstones Only one stone is legible It has the name of J. F. Collier 1891 - 1892 and M.S. Collier 1853- 1892. The Cemetery was located on a part of the old Merrel Collier farm.
Thanks in advance and have a wonderful day.
I truly understand your confusion with no headstone, it's sad & those funeral home markers are short lived. I have uncles,cousins that don't have one either. It don't exactly speak too highly of their children.

Hi Nancy! I am sorry for not responding sooner. I'd be happy to share details if you'd like to email me? Merrymaryalso@gmail.com
He was in Germany and the battle of the bulge.Did you see the photo of Arnold I posted on his memorial?
Thank you, Nancy for the info you have on Arnold R Cornelius.I found docs on ancestry as well. I am going to assume he was the Arnold Cornelius my Dad knew in WWII. If you are in touch with Mr. Godwin, could you let him know my Dad was at the Bulge, 1st Infantry Division. You can keep in touch with me if you'd like at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks again for all you do.
|tombstoner||Arnold R Cornelius|
Thank you, Nancy, for your prompt reply. Rountree is my married name but, it's a small world and I do know there is family in the idea. I'll check it out on my Rountree Tree. I found Arnolds grave. Are you his daughter? Do you know of his military record? I just want to make sure he is the Arnold Rufus Cornelius my Dad remembers from The Bulge.
Thank you so much,
PS Was Lenford Godwin in The Battle of the Bulge as well?
|tombstoner||Arnold R Cornelius|
My name is Mary Rountree and I am looking for my Dad's old WWII buddies.....be they alive or passed. Arnold R (for Rufus?) Cornelius was one of the names he remembers. My Dad is John J Murphy. He is 95 so I am trying to work fast, here!
My Dad was at The Battle of the Bulge. Was Arnold?
I want to make sure I have the right guy before yacking too much!
I Look forward to hearing from you!
