Bio and Links
Bio Photo Since February 2012 a group of us have been working on a project to photograph the entire Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California.

97% of the cemetery has been photographed

Only parts of Sections CA and CE need to be photographed.

We add new memorials as need be and add missing information.

We are also identifying and deleting memorials that are for different national cemeteries.

FAG members Samme Templin, Theresa Miller, Christine S., and Cindy S. are helping to post the photos.

FAG contributor Stewart Blandon completed Section 2E. Stewart also created an excel spreadsheet for the burials in the cemetery that has been vital for the project. Stewart and Kathleen Clemence have added plot information to memorials.

FAG contributor Kathleen Clemence completed Section R.

FAG contributor Christine and Winmar finished photographing and posting photos from Section MA.

Please contact me if you have a better photograph of a headstone for a memorial (e.g., with better lighting), and I will be happy to remove my photo from the memorial.

RE: Wade Shipp in GGNC
Dear Tom,

Thank you for your diligence. My great-great-grandmother's sister, Mary Frances McLester, was the second wife of William Wesley Shipp. He had been married before to Mary Evaline Walker and then married Mary Frances after Ms. Walker passed. Mary Frances was 25 years William's junior. He was 42 when they married and she was 16. They quickly began having children and had 9 of them before he passed away in 1883. Wade Hampton Shipp was the 8th of these, so Mr. Shipp was definitely an older father! I have Wade H. Shipp on the 1880 U.S. Census with W.W. and Mary F. Shipp in Cusseta, GA. His California Death Index Record lists his father's surname as Shipp and his mother's as McLester. All of the U.S. Censuses after 1880 list Georgia as his birth state and North Carolina as his father's birth state, which match with William Wesley, who was born in Craven Co., NC. I also have a copy of a book called The History of Chattahoochee County that lists the children of William Wesley and Mary Frances McLester and Wade H. is in the list. Please let me know if this is sufficent.

Fred deRocher
Thanks so much for posting the photo of Fred deRocher's tombstone. I'm sure I speak for many when I say I appreciate what you are doing. I live a couple thousand miles from this cemetery and am sure I will never get there myself so I truly appreciate the work you and your group are doing.

RE: FSNC Photos
You're welcome, Tom! I'm glad you liked the photos. This time there was an extra flourish on each-snow headbands-once again emphasizing that they are in the North. I finished all of them so whenever you are ready you can to load me up again.
