Bio and Links
In 1992, my husband brought home a genealogy program for the computer and we realized how very little we knew about our families. We have been hooked on genealogy ever since. We have made some wonderful trips, discovered some interesting tales, and had a lot of fun.

We are researching the following family names:
Walker, McCollum, Smith, McElfresh, Wall/Walls, Shumate, Hester, Moulton, Hill, Hawkins, Jackson, Cobb, Millsap, Tittle, Collins, Johnson, Womack, Story, Floyd, Shirley & Carter plus numerous others linking to these.

RE: Giles Beacham
Carolyn, My son and I did a lot of Hollywood. James Stephens systematically searched each and every bit of Hollywood - it took a little over two years to do so. He marked areas with survey ribbons so he knew where he had been. He has a website with an ariel map and he sectioned up each part of Hollywood. (Stephens There are many, many graves - at least 1/3 of those buried there, are without markers, maybe more. I think after Oakland's indigent section filled, folks were buried at Hollywood, because the cost was small per lot - about $12.00. As far as I know, Giles was buried at Hollywood. I have seen obits with more than one burial location on them - it was like the family couldn't quite decide where. You can call Westview if you like and they can tell you for sure. They are nice and helpful there, or they were a few years ago. They can even tell you if there is a marker or not. Hope this helps.

Hello Pattie, I got all excited when I saw Lydia Ann Story Atterbury,
with you also looking for the Carter name. Am still trying to find
what happened to my great-grandma, Lydia Ann Carter who was in the hh
of J.E. Story, lst as a housekeeper with her 3 children shown as "borders".
That was the 1920 Census, with 3 younger children Myrtle, Mayzie & Joe Carter.
Her maiden name was Carter, too. By 1930 Mr Story was with Mattie Settles,
with his son..and by that fall, I believe, he and the boy had passed away
from injuries in a fire, is how it's explained on someone's tree. Where
did Lydia go..did she die in the fire? I've been told that she and Mr Story
married and divorced during the 20's. I did see a marraige license app, at
one time, but don't know if it was ever returned to the clerks office for
filing, or where the "proof" of divorce is/or where. If you come up with
any info, I'd sure appreciate it. I paid the Cass Co Clerk's office in
Linden for someone whose dates seem to match up, but the Lydia Carter in
Atlanta was a black lady who's other info wasn't even close! How did
Lydia Ann Story Atterbury fit into the picture, I wonder? Lydia had two
older sons, Wolford and Tom Carter, who'd lived in Marshall, Tx, then
Tom moved to the Shreveport/Bossier area, where he lived his life out, but
I can't find anything or anyone who seems to know anything about Lydia!
Hopefully someone will turn up who can tell me something.
My grandmother..Lydia's oldest dtr, Mary Alice Carter-Cook lived nearly all
her adult/married life, in the Hughes Springs area, except for when
they seemed to go over around Woodlawn/Jefferson/Marshall, for the birth of
a couple of kids...Nothing was ever mentioned about their families.
I noticed you had a name with McWilliams mentioned as a maiden name. and my
grandad's lst wife was Lena May McWilliams, of Hopkins/Fannin Co, who died
in childbirth with her 2nd child. Then he ended up in Quanah Tx marrying my
grandmother..Lydia's dtr of 15, he a 28 y/o widower..why were they out there,
I don't know. Lots of mysteries before Lydia ends up in the JE Story hh..
and during and afterward!

David James picture
Thanks much for posting this picture. David James is my paternal great grandfather and I don't think I've ever seen a picture of him. My paternal great grandmother was his first wife, Arla/Ulier. Thank you again!

RE: Parent's # for Ida Northcutt Wise
Yes, I have been working on my Mother's BROWN Tree since 1970. The Crick family married into it. Another researcher is also working to put the whole thing together. We are still looking for a grave for Elijah Monroe Crick who is said to have died in 1922 in Collin County. We don't even know where that tidbit came from. We have him in the 1920 census as the last documentation.

Carolyn, Thank you for noting the glitch in the bio for Joseph S. Cobbs. It has been corrected and bios of his descendants also checked. A task that needed to be done. These Cobb ancestors made a statement in the development of our Country. A goodly hertiage.

RE: Photos-Damascus Cemetery
Hi. Carolyn,

Goodness girl you know me....I'm Bonnie and Virgil Floyd's daughter-in-law, Faye, married to their son Wayne. I have two grown children who I want to know who their ancestors were. Most of mine are in MS and Al so it's hard go get inf on them but there are several generations of Floyds here for them to know about. Good to hear from you.
