Mayflower Connection: I descend from the following |
Degory Priest, Francis Eaton, John Alden,Priscilla Mullins, Myles Standish, Peter Brown, Francis Cooke, George Soule, Isaac Allerton, Richard Warren, through my father, Member 27436, Society of Mayflower Descendants.
My uncle, Carl Glee Smith Jr is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines. His life was lost during Typhoon Cobra, December 18, 1944 when three ships went down, USS Hull, USS Monaghan and his ship the USS Spence. I have attempted to leave notes at each of the memorials for the 793 sailors who lost their lives that day. I also see many other memorials that no one has left flowers or honored them, I am also honoring those as I have time. There are over 44,033 memorials at that cemetery. May God bless the thousands of families who suffered loss during WW II.
I am attempting to link many of Smith burials in an effort to help those who are just starting their family search venture. Descending from four Smith branches is a challenge. At the present time, I am linking Smiths from several states from Vermont, New York,Ohio to Illinois, Nebraska and Kansas. From Virginia through Kentucky to Arkansas. From Georgia, Arkansas to Texas.
In addition, I am documenting my Jones from New Hampshire, through Ohio, Illinois to Nebraska.
A few of my family lines are Blatherwick, Farrow, Gilbert, Wood, Kelsey, Evans, Blake, Cady, Watkins, Stewart, McCormick, Jones, Stiles, McDermott, Hoffman, Smith, Black, Brazle, Roth, Martin, Cole, Morgan, Oswalt
If you use my personal photos, please give me credit for the photo, this includes family photos posted as well as cemetery photos. Thank you.
I will consifer transferring memorials that are your direct family, but not my family line. I am not into numbers and am happy to share my work. I love to link family members and to know a bit about the person.

Hi, I'm the grand niece of Uylsses Harrison. Thank you for the time you took in posting his marker. I would be grateful for the transfer of his memorial as he didn't have any children. #109622165

|Pam Brown Stemen||Rosannah Marriott|
Hello Vickye, I found the headstone today buried under leaves and debris. It's the third time I've been to the cemetery looking for it. I'm very interested in knowing your connection to Rosa Marriott. My great-great-great-great grandparents are buried in this cemetery.

|David Graham||Nancy Mary Mitchell Holliday|
Her mother is my 3X grand mother Mary Mitchell who died in Lucasville, Ohio circa 1870. Do you know if anyone has tried to find the grave of Mary Mitchell or the grave of her sister Catherine Mitchell Smythe McGowan? Mary's son Mathew, the brother of Nancy, is buried in Lucasville. Nancy's son John wrote a diary of his time as a soldier in the Civil War.
|Mary J Griswold||Joan & Wellington Kilby|
Hi Vickye -- You have Joan and Wellington Kilby's memorial pages tied to Eagle Point National Cemetery. So far, they are not listed in the VA grave locator website and I can't find any other information showing they are buried there. Do you have any more information on the disposition of their remains? Is it possible they were cremated and will be interred at some time in the future? Or they were there at some point, but have been moved elsewhere?
Thanks for your help. Mary Griswold

Where did you find information that she is buried at Letitia Cemetery and do you have headstone pic?
Thanks for any clarification.
|Jolece Wainman||Two Tombstones for Jane Denison Johnson|
As I was uploading a photo of Jane Denison Bell Johnson, I noticed that she has two tombstones to her name. Do you know why this is? Was she just buried separate from JJ? JJ's is in Asbury (a few miles from me), and also has her name on the right side of the Bible decoration atop the joint stone. The Monmouth Cemetery photo of the other stone has a death date 10 years after her death, too. I see AHantz added that photo, so maybe you don't know the story of why there are two. I will have to look in her obit (if I have one) to see if she was even buried in Monmouth, or Asbury in Roseville IL
|Jolece Wainman||duplicate memorial|
I was working in my ancestor Jeremiah Jefferson Johnson, husband of first Mary Bryant, then Jane Denison Bell and noticed that he has TWO memorial sites in the Asbury cemetery: #100837344 of yours and 45083654. The death date of April 15 in the latter matches his tombstone. The death date in the first is April 14.
Are you able to consolidate the two memorials into one? It would be terribly confusing to people looking for info. The photos I got were from a local Johnson friend from her own album. My cemetery photo seemed a bit clearer than the one that had posted by the previous person.
I live near the Asbury cemetery. He is my grandpa's grandfather.
