Pre-script -- My account has more than 5000 memorials, about 500 or 600 if these are family members for my husband and myself. I would be more than happy to transfer outside the "guidelines". Just ask. Any relation or friend situation. I am not a selfish person. Some findagrave folks treat memorials like baseball cards and horde them. For what end?! I say --- Guidelines, Schmidelines..... There would be less problems and bad feelings all around if there were more generosity. But if there were no guidelines, some people would never even learn how to do a transfer...... I put information on this site in the hopes that someone someday asks for a transfer of a great grand aunt or uncle or cousin. This just means that people are looking....Happy to help!|
My first stop in a cemetery is any photo requests, then it is the small white markers with the little lambs; the ones that are slowly giving in to the elements. Next, Veterans from any war, especially the Civil War, they seem to be forgotten about. This summer has been spent on many a gravel road with map in hand looking for the small out of the way cemeteries in this area. Sometimes hubby comes along.
More than happy to transfer any family, except of course, my relatives. Gladly will make any corrections, additions or relationship links. The great thing about findagrave is so many helpful, friendly people adding pieces to the genealogy puzzle.

Yes, they do....to the point that they were hesitant to let me take the photographs, for fear that relatives seeing these photos would think that their dead were not being honored.

Thank you for posting a photo of her tombstone.
|Martha-Lisa Mode Flinsch||Thank you for Roy Mode|
Thanks for visiting my Uncle Roy Mode's grave in Belgium and posting a memorial. It was great to see that people had honored his life when I found him. I have put him in a virual Mode cemetary with his parents and sister & brother-in-law. I feel like I sort of brought him home at last. I am still looking for his wife but I'm going to have to ask my cousins where she and her second husband are buried. You are welcome to visit all of them if you are curious. My father is the only one still alive from the origional Mode family. He has always kept a picture of Roy in uniform on his bookshelf and told me all about him.

I went over to St. Mary's on Friday and again today.
I'm assuming that we're looking for an unmarked grave(s).
I'm also assuming that the cross you are referring to is the one on top of the headstone right behind the Bock's as I face west.
So far there is no flag (maybe the caretaker is also a procrastinator lol) and I just don't see anything that looks like an unmarked grave.
Plus, given how full this cemetery is I don't see where there's room for any other graves.
But....I won't give up!!
I'll keep checking and I'll keep you updated.

There is no marker for Nick, according to records I checked he is in this lot.

So VERY glad you were persistent on this one. :) If not for you, Lieut. Prentice's stone may have been lost.
It was an honor to have helped.

You're more than welcome, but I can't take total credit; the cemetery did the yeoman's share of the work.
I had searched for some time, when some field men came and volunteered to help. There were 5 of us looking w/ no success.
I finally had to call the office and ask them to find the grave for us. (Detroit Memorial has an odd system; I'm currently looking for another veteran.)
Such a small amount of "work" compared to Lieut. Prentice's sacrifice. (Just could not walk away from this one, once I read his bio.)
There were two other Prentices next to Lieut. Prentice's grave: Clifford (1895 - 1962) and Lorraine (1911 - 1990). While Miss Lorraine cannot be his Mom, they're buried in the same plot; implying they're a married couple.
Obviously, I have no clue if they're related, but would you like to add their memorials? I could provide the photos once you do.
Please, let me know how you'd like to proceed.
Thanks & Later.
