Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been an avid genealogist in Perry Co. for over 30 years. I have researched my family in Letcher, Perry, Breathitt, Magoffin, Leslie, and Owsley counties. I have research on the Campbell, Couch, Dixon, Combs, Cornett, Feltner, Williams, Whitely, Haney, Gullet and others that came into my family as I researched. I became a member of FAG while trying to find my grandfather's lost grave in Magoffin Co. My husband and I started taking pictures of the cemeteries in Perry Co. to help people find their lost loved ones. We are attempting to photograph the cemeteries in Perry county. I will consider transfers within the four Generation FAG guideline that include: Spouses, Parents, Brothers and Sisters, Children, Grand-children, Grandparents and great grandparents. Sorry, no transfers to aunts, uncles or cousins. I try to be accommodating but I will not tolerate rudeness. If any of my memorials need to be edited, please contact me using the edit button. Also I will try to help if you are having trouble research your family members. Thanks

RE: William Cornett Jr.
Hello SWF,

By any chance do these Cornetts link up to the Robin Cornett line in Laurel County, KY?

I am not related directly, but there are many Cornett marriages in the Johnson-Harbin-Poff-Hix lines.

IF I come across more Cornett info in my own research, I'll pass it on.

Thanks for the correction. I researched the cemetery and the data said it was in Hazard. How can I delete the cemetery?

RE: William Cornett Jr.
Hello SWF,

Yes. I do have viable proof in the form of a long article that was published in the Brownstown Banner newspaper, Brownstown, IN on Wednesday 14 August 1929; Front Page, Column 2.

It talks of the Cornet Pioneers who came from KY, the annual reunion to be held on August 25th and names his 2 surviving daughters, Mrs. Jacob Lutes and Mrs. Joe Lutes, who planned to be in attendance.

"The original Cornett migration to this community was headed by William Jefferson Cornett, who came from Kentucky in 1820, and settled with his large family on a farm near Maumee, near what is known as Negro Creek. James Cornett, one of his older sons, finally settled near what is known as Cornett's Grove . . . His daughter Maggie was the first one to be laid to rest in the cemetery at that place, her burial . . .November 1864."

I am NOT directly related, but my family is from far eastern KY and Cornett is a big name there - so I actually copied this article for the Laurel County Historical Society.

IF you want, I will type out the article into the 'Edit' portion of William Jefferson 'Jeff' Cornett's memorial page for posting into his BIO:

RE: Sarah Williams Hogg
That would be greatly appreciated. This is a message I received.

Hi, Cousin,
Sarah "Sallie" Wiiliams Hogg is my 4 x great grandmother. I don't know where she is buried. My database shows she died on 1/14/1869, but I don't know where I got that info. All the Sarahs, Sallies, Hoogs, Hogges, and Williams got very confusing. Sorry I can't help.

RE: James Daniel and Carrie Clay
Thanks so much. Marshall Clay was also duped. I asked for theirs to be deleted. Will wait a bit to see if they are deleted.

Sarah Williams Hogg
I apologize if I sound confused, Letcher County KY was not founded until 1842, there was no 1830 Census. It fell under the Perry County Census and there was a Hog, likely meaning Hogg on page 7 with a female in the house of James Hog (Hogg)near age 50.

Any correction you have would be appreciated. There is limited information here. I have several family members who came to the same conclusion.

I sent a query asking another researcher the following with this explanation.

RE: Sarah Hogg
I am looking for the true burial location of Sarah. I placed her in the Hogg Cemetery using the rule of commonality. However I am told I am wrong. I was thinking of the clan mentality whereas the most prominent son would see to the need of the matriarch. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Elias Combs
Looked through the Combs site and found this:

Photo mix up?
It appears the grave photo for Memorial# 126263239 Joe Hamblin is for Memorial# 126262807 Joe Morris. Thanks for all your work on Find A Grave!
