Just a thought here to ponder on.
I have taken notice that when a volunteer goes out and takes a picture of the grave sites of the soldiers why isn't there a picture of their wife taken and memorial added ?
The wife of the soldier is just important as the men that served our country they stayed at home and keep the house warm, raised the children and some went to work and worried everyday that there husband would walk in that door alive. Woman also had a improtant role when there husband was out fighting for our country. So try to take that extra step sideways or backwards to see if his wife was buried with him so that she also may be honored.
Remember this, his wife may of been tending to the sick and injured on that field or the Hospital Base..

|John G||RE: Two John W Gaines|
No, and I'm not sure that I can. It may take a professional or at the least an extended trip to Page County, VA.
Both John Gaines buried at Rosehill were born in Page County, VA according to their Find A Grave obits. Both have the same parents according to F-A-G, and both were married to Catherine Shomo. So, I think there is an error on F-A-G and I still have some tough research to do. I think my tree is correct as far as my lineage goes. But I have to get to the bottom of the freaky coincidences between these two people.

|John G||Two John W Gaines|
Hi Annie, I hope you had great holidays. Well, I've discovered a real mess and I hope you can help me figure it out. I've been creating a tree on Family Search because I sometimes use it to find sources that I can't find on Ancestry. I had completed my paternal GF, GGF and GGGF when someone added another person with the same name, a different wife, slightly different dates and the same parents as my GF. Next I discovered there are two John W Gaines buried in Rose Hill. Yours is Memorial #97119387. The one I had which seems to match my source material is Memorial# 66354882.
Here's a link to your John's PA death certificate:
My GF was born, married and buried in VA but he died in Washington, DC. He has the same parents that are linked to your profile.
Maybe it would be easier for you to look at my tree on Ancestry. It's public but I can send you a guest link. For a brief moment I was beginning to think my GF had two families going on but that makes no sense. HELP!
