Bio and Links
Bio Photo I find 'Find A Grave' a great research tool. I'm retired, living in Traverse City, Michigan and using genealogy as a way of keeping my mind active. I have been president of Grand Traverse Area Genealogical Society and am a member of Austin Family Association of America.

I do transfers, links, change information and anything else I can to make FAG a place that is user friendly. It is the members of Find A Grave who make it great place to spend your research time.

If you are related to any person on my memorial list, send me and e-mail or a public message about your family.

My family lines are Austin, Penix/Penick, Paradis, King, Bowman, Joseph, Taft, Seelye, Todd, Pinette, Nadeau, Rose, Reed, Barker, Lovejoy, and Foster.

If you are related. I will happily make a transfer of the memorials to you. I am hoping all Memorials I have added will be with family. I made the additions you requested.

Over the years I have been piecing together the Huron County Cochran siblings and their ancestry which are part of my wife's line. As you say, there are several older records indicating differing years of birth.

Thanks for your kind offer; I will be happy to care for the Roger and William H. Cochran memorials if you wish to transfer them.

Re: Roger Cochran #88956168
It seems likely Roger is the son of James Cochran and Clementina Fife, all buried in Rock Falls Cemetery. If you agree he can be linked to his parents.
But Roger's year of birth should be about 1863 (according to the 1880 Rubicon Township Census, not 1861 as the memorial stone indicates.

RE: More on Wells Miller
Hi Mary,

I want to close the loop on the question of the existence of a Miller family cemetery in section 30 or 19 near Miller Hill. The Miller cousins have checked their memories and records and do not come up with anyone who is not in an established cemetery. So, we can state that there is no Miller family cemetery to our knowledge. Thanks for asking the question--it has sparked a new discussion about early Miller history and we are putting together some facts that weren't clear before.

RE: More on Wells Miller
Hi Mary,

I'm sorry I'm a little slow in responding. I have contacted my Miller cousins and they draw a blank on any family cemetery on Miller Hill or in the area. Now be aware that neither of them lived in that area, they just visited it a few times when they were young. One of the cousins is contacting another Miller who may have grown up there to see if they have any recall. But, for the moment, the answer is that nobody recalls there being a family cemetery. In fact, all the evidence points to everyone being buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City. The first to die were Daniel and Ann Miller in 1890, and they are in Oakwood along with many of their children and grandchildren. Wells Miller, who you cited, is also in Oakwood.

RE: Traverse City Miller family
Oops, I should have searched for Wells before making that bold statement and pushed the send button. Wells is indeed in Oakwood Cemetery along with his wife and the majority of his siblings. I just didn't find his grave location so don't have a photo of his stone. But there it is on FindAGrave!! So, who would be left to have been buried in a cemetery near Miller Hill? Hmmm.

More later.
