Some of the Guidelines given in the Forums:

Mark: 1-11-2016, " The FAQ are guidelines and the guidelines are the RULES. Hence the FAQ are the RULES. Along with the Terms of Service."

Katrina: 9-18-2015, "Our first determination on a merge is which memorial was in the correct cemetery first (other than the 30 day grace period on recent deaths). We also determine which memorial has the correct information according to the stone."

Katrina: 9-29-2015, "The memorial that is created after death is the memorial that is kept. We do make exceptions for memorials that members create for themselves. When a current headstone photo is added, the headstone photo (that does not include full dates) can be removed. This request can be sent to photo@"

Katrina: "If you are the manager of the memorial you have the choice of whether or not to link to a burial unknown memorial."

Katrina: 9-18-2015: "If there is direct primary documentation that a name or date is incorrect on the headstone, then add the correct information to the fields provided on the memorial page. An example of direct primary documentation is a birth certificate that proves the birth year oon the headstone to be incorrect. Add a note to the memorial page that briefly documents how the stone is known to be incorrect. It is best to research and check multiple resources to verify your findings."

Russ, do I have to do research first to find the farm, so at least I would have a location. I do know what county in Minnesota that the farm was in. The building site may not be there anymore.

"Yes you need to know specifically where the farm is/was. Just throwing out a general "Smith Farm" without knowing where it/was located is tantamount to placing an Unknown Burial within a listed County."
