I was born Elizabeth Kate Orr (always gone by Kate) to Webster Thaxton (Web) and Josephine Marie Wilson Orr in Rayle, Georgia. I would say that the majority of my family are from Wilkes and Oglethorpe County, Georgia. I no longer live in Rayle, Georgia, but Roswell, Georgia with my husband, Clay, and our two dogs. The house where I grew up is still in my family and I try to get down there every few months to visits cousins, do research, etc. I started doing genealogy research where my mother left off (she and my father are both deceased). She had researched both her and my father's direct lines fairly far back and she had some information on the siblings of my direct ancestors, but I wanted to learn more so I've been collecting more information on both my direct and indirect ancestors. Who they were, what they did, what they looked like, where they are buried. So most of the cemeteries I have entered into Find A Grave are those I have gone to in search of my ancestors. I'll often take a picture of the gravestone, enter it into my Family Tree Maker and figure out the connection. Which is why when I upload the information to Find A Grave, people may wonder why only pictures of select graves were taken and not all of them, also why everyone buried in the cemetery is not listed. There are times when others are owners of information they submit, I try to only ask for my direct ancestors to be transferred to me, but there are also times when I ask for my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. to be transferred to me. Many times people enter information into Find A Grave from books, etc. and once they've entered the information they no longer really maintain the record, how could they, they don't even know the person. Even if I've never met the person, I know them from my parents research or from the records they saved, etc. So I really appreciate it when these records get transferred to me.|

I'm am curious if you are related to the Terrells of Atlanta? I found another post where you may have mentioned the name Minnie Dee. She was my Grandmother's sister.

Hi. You contacted me, but I don't seem to be able to directly reply regarding your questions about Elmore Callaway. I have added the info to his memorial. Hope it helps. His # is 34198149. I am afraid that folks have contributed the incorrect parents to Elmore in a number of locations. Are you a member of the Callaway Association? Google it. Lots of good info there, and a family tree on Rootsweb that has been carefully compiled with paid genealogists. Thanks for contacting me.

This change has been made. I'm not sure why I declined it. I'll blame it on a slip of my finger!

Josiah Skillman and I would be 2nd cousins, 5 times removed.

Am seeking permission to copy the photo you posted to my family tree records, with credit. Prior consent would be obtained before any further distribution.

I thought you probably hit the wrong key or since someone else originally created this memorial I thought they might have done it and you just didn't notice. But hey, we all make mistakes. Becky

I just send an update for birthdate of Josephine Orr. You have December 20th on memorial and the stone has December 22. Which is correct? I know some stones have the wrong date. Becky

Kate, thanks for all your contributions to the Findagrave website. I would like permission to use your photographs of my relatives' gravesites in my Family Tree files. I use the photos as source media and will gladly give you credit. I also am tracing the Thaxton line. My grandmother was a Thaxton. Her great grandfather was Yelverton Thaxton. He came to Butts County, Ga from Virginia via Oglethorpe County. Becky
|William Hollis||Lexington and Rayle Cemeteries|
I have a lot of ancestors from the Maxey's, Lexington, Rayle and Washington areas (Jackson, Colley, Callaway).
Trying to find where they are all buried.
I too live in N.Atlanta.
Looking for directions right now to the Nash McAvoy Family Cemetery where my Colley ancestors are buried.
Any help is appreciated.
