Bio and Links
Bio Photo Taphophilia (a passion and enjoyment of cemeteries) has been my main hobby since the late 1970's when I was a junior in high school. I discovered that cemeteries in and around Los Angeles were the best places to hide from truant officers. It was in these adopted sanctuaries that I began to appreciate my surroundings: the grounds, the headstones, the architecture, the artwork and most importantly, the residents.

In October of 2010, I founded The Traveling Taphophiles, a group that sets out once a month to visit cemeteries. Our travels have taken us as far as New Orleans. I'm fortunate to have met others that share my hobby and to have forged some great friendships along the way.

Once photos have been posted, feel free to use them as you wish - photo credit isn't necessary.

Happy Graving ~

Louis DuMort

Glad you were able to put his memorial up, you do great work. Someone has duplicated it already.

RE: LeRoy Neiman
Thank you and you're welcome. Since you are dedicated to this site I will let you in on the nature of the photos. I was suppose to meet Neiman and photograph him about 3 years ago but he got sick at that moment and had his leg or legs amputated so I didn't want to remember him that way and avoided the man.
When he died soon after I said to myself I should have just shot him as is. Same thing happened with Dick Clark & Pavarotti. I guess his grave is about the only photo of Leroy Neiman I will ever have taken.

Traveling Taphophiles
I would love to join this group, The Traveling Taphophiles. I read your biography after having read two of your interesting and well documented biographies for the more well known to most, who have died this year 2014. One of my biggest enjoyments I have is to follow biographical threads from one person to another. Like following clues, one person to another. I've had many an 'ahh!' moment reading on how people are connected to each other. It's wonderfully amazing.

Hi Louis,

The Name of the group he was in is called Black Tusk. On his page it simply says Tusk.

From a French taphophile
Dear Louis, I live in France, where I enjoy being a taphophile too, and God knows there are quite a few interesting cemeteries around, especially in Paris! Next April, I'll be back for a few days in LA and San Francisco (glad to enjoy some more errands in your fabulous cemeteries): is there by any chance something that has already been planned by the Traveling Taphophiles? Best, Michel
P.S.: Your name "DuMort" sounds familiar, wonder why... ;-)

RE: Jack Bruce
Yeah! That's happened to me several times when I was working on a bio. Yours is still good though as usual.

Best,
CS

RE: Nathaniel Craig Dryden
I totally understand your side but hate to see all my work for not, hard to understand some of Find A Graves rules, especially in this case where his line is documented from his beginning to his end. That said, I will turn my head the other way, take a deep breath and say carry on, you do nice work.
