Thought I would tell you I placed a picture of the grave for Leila and Capt. Vess Oliver today. I am trying to take pictures of all graves at New Lorimier and saw your sweet memorial. Ruth

RE: N.M. Colbert Dodd
My parents came from a neighboring county to Bell. Hopkins. Hopkins county was where my sister and I were born, too. Quite a few of my close ancestors are buried in Bell county, with most of the remainder being buried in Hopkins.
We moved to the South Plains of Texas when I was about three years old due to my sister's asthma being so bad and they were trying to find an area where she could breathe. I remember well visiting my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Some of my cousins still live in that area. I loved that part of Texas. It is so green and the air isn't full of dust!

RE: Robert Dowdle, Jr
Hi back, cousin! My line comes from Climey, back to Elisha, then back to Robert. Maybe I can do some research and get all his children linked to him. Contact me anytime! Genealogist.

N.M. Colbert Dodd
It seems that you and I are cousins (or something like that). Nancy M. Colbert Dodd is on my paternal grandmother's side of the family.
She is my 2x great grandmother. :0)

Jermiah E. Colbert in Coleman County, TX
Hi Kimberly,

Do you have any information on the parents and siblings of this man? I am particularly looking for a connection to Ira Colbert who was in Lamar County, TX. Born about 1800 in NC; died 1877 in Lamar County. First married to Mary ?, and second married to Jemimah P. Templeton... my gg grandmother.

Many thanks,
Janis Templeton Trayler

RE: Lewis Connections
Hi Kimberly,

Thank you very much for sending me your Lewis line. I had some information that I thought you might be interested in lookin at.

We have the same John Albert Lewis, however, we have a different wife as Joshua Lewis's Mother.

My DNA match relative, William Charles Lewis, from our Lewis DNA Project has within his Sons of the Revoultionary War papers, a document showing Samuel Lewis (Pvt NC) c1750-c1816)m. Dorcas Fincher. Children: Joshua; Abram; James m ___Thrailkill; Jonathan; Eurrell; Joel; Sarah m___Youngblood (2) ___Oswalt; Lucinda m__Ceshazo; Palina m Alex Avery; Wyley b. 1809 m Martha Summers (2) Frances Locke (3) Caroline McReynolds.

William Charles Lewis decends through Wyley Lewis and 1st wife, Martha Summers.

Other than that difference that you and William Charles Lewis have as to the Mother of Joshua Lewis, it looks like it could be the same line

He did not give us any history for the other children of Samuel Lewis since it was Wyley Lewis's line that he turned into the Lewis DNA project.

Until Later.....God Bless,
Judith Nan Lewis

RE: Lewis Connections
Hi Kimberly,

Yes, he is related to me, if he desends from Samuel Lewis & Dorcas Fincher Lewis

My Lewis Family is included in the Lewis DNA Project (Robert Lewis 1790NC) and we have had several exact DNA matches.

One of our relatives who had a perfect DNA match to ours is a desendant of Samuel Lewis (abt. 1750NC-died c1816) and his second wife, Dorcas Fincher, through their son, Wyley Lewis (Jan 28,1809NC-Dec. 11, 1887 Mathiston, MS). He has his documents of proof and is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

I found in someones research on the internet, that they have James Albert Lewis's family connected to Samuel Lewis and his firs wife, who is unknown name. They also have our Wyley Lewis born in TN, but that is incorrect, as legal documents show he was born in NC. Also, his name was not Wyley Wyley Lewis. His name was Wyley Lewis.

Do you tie into this family?

Until Later.....God Bless,
Judith Nan Lewis
