I am a collector and amateur historian of early Space Related articles and Military history focused on the AAF in WWII but covering all branches world wide. I have been active in this field since 1990. |
The military history of my family got me started on working my family tree. When I don't have a photo of a member I start looking for there final resting place.
I have always enjoyed helping others in my military research and have also tried to do that in my family history search.
I am not in this for the numbers so I am glad to transfer to family. The whole reason for doing this is for the FAMILY of those at rest, which seems to be forgotten by some members. Maybe they get paid for there numbers? Hah!
I found this poem on fellow member Linda Dukes (46842176) page and really liked it. Linda lists it as Author Unknown. I tweaked it a little so this is my modified version. Thanks for this Linda, I think its great!
Poem for a Genealogist
Your tombstone stands among the rest; neglected and alone….
The name and date are chiseled out; on polished marbled stone….
It reaches out to all who care; it is too late to mourn...
You did not know that I exist; you died before I was born...
Yet each of us shares cells of you; in flesh, in blood, in bone...
Our heart contracts and beats a pulse; entirely not our own…..
Dear ancestor the place you filled; one hundred years ago….
Spreads out among the ones you left; who would have loved you so...
I wonder if you knew someday; that I would find this spot...
And come to visit you this way; though I did know you not.

Thank you for posting the memorials associated to the Plush Family. I have enjoyed learning about the Duttons. Velma Plush Dutton is my husband's grandfather's 2nd cousin. Your interest in the military backgrounds of family is one of our interests as well. Great job with all you have done and for sharing your interest with so many others.

Thank you so much!

Thank you for responding so quickly. I sent the request to Find A Grave. I noticed under the photos posted by you that it says Congregation Albert... I should have been more specific in the last email. If you could put the correct burial location, I and the family would appreciate it.
Again, thank you so much for your time and work at Find A Grave.

I'm the historian for Fairview Memorial Park and noticed that you have the marker listed in "Congregation Albert".
Per the records in the office: At the time of death May 20, 1913, Interment on May 23, 1913 Francisco was buried in Section: 17H, Row: SH-east, Grave: 19. This is on the north side of Historic Fairview Cemetery (Old section). When his wife Gabriela passed away, Francisco was disinterred from the north side and interred in a grave next to his wife: Section: 9B, Row:28-West, Grave: 49 (His wife is in Grave 50). This is not in Congregation Albert. Several of his descendants have contacted me concerned that incorrect information was being posted. Please make the necessary corrections. Thank you,

I believe William C. Carothers # 61260177 is my great-grandfather's long-lost brother. I am curious about the date of death since month and day are not stated on the application for CSA stone. Do you have more information on this person you'd be willing to share? Thanks! Nancy

You're welcome, Mark. I had looked for this one a couple of times in Section E with no luck. I was looking for a different marker in Section I when I ran across his marker. I have submitted the correction to the manager of his memorial and loaded the GPS location.

Thank you. I'll take very good care of them.
And, thank you for creating the memorials and taking the pictures of their headstones to begin with. I definitely appreciate it.

Thanks Mark. That sounds good to link the two. Have you seen the article that the search for his recovery has begun?

No problem! I just happened to come across it in some abstracts I was reading.
