Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a collector and amateur historian of early Space Related articles and Military history focused on the AAF in WWII but covering all branches world wide. I have been active in this field since 1990.

The military history of my family got me started on working my family tree. When I don't have a photo of a member I start looking for there final resting place.

I have always enjoyed helping others in my military research and have also tried to do that in my family history search.

I am not in this for the numbers so I am glad to transfer to family. The whole reason for doing this is for the FAMILY of those at rest, which seems to be forgotten by some members. Maybe they get paid for there numbers? Hah!

I found this poem on fellow member Linda Dukes (46842176) page and really liked it. Linda lists it as Author Unknown. I tweaked it a little so this is my modified version. Thanks for this Linda, I think its great!

Poem for a Genealogist

Your tombstone stands among the rest; neglected and alone….
The name and date are chiseled out; on polished marbled stone….
It reaches out to all who care; it is too late to mourn...
You did not know that I exist; you died before I was born...
Yet each of us shares cells of you; in flesh, in blood, in bone...
Our heart contracts and beats a pulse; entirely not our own…..
Dear ancestor the place you filled; one hundred years ago….
Spreads out among the ones you left; who would have loved you so...
I wonder if you knew someday; that I would find this spot...
And come to visit you this way; though I did know you not.

There is also a headstone for Nellie Hardy next to William's. Would you like this picture also?

Theodore Francis Shumski
I got pics per your request today. Theodore's gravestone has some rust stains on it. Someone told me that it is because the cemetery uses fertilizer with iron in it and that causes the stains. Don't know if that is true or not? I don't know of any way to get these stains out aside from using a jackhammer?! I trimmed the grass back and washed dirt off of the stone anyway.

Is there a headstone for Acy Edward Drew (A.E) in the McGregor Cemetery?

Lounsberry line
Mark, I note that you've left memorials on the Gideon Lounsberry family pages. I am a Lounsberry descendant, specifically of Gideon and Polly's daughter Margaret, who emigrated to Wisconsin with her husband William Henry Travis.

Ricky Byron Willoughby
Hi Mark, thank you for your post of my brother. He was greatly love and so missed. You are so right, he and Mother are together in Heaven. Our step-dad is there with them as well. What wonderful happiness they are sharing.
Ricky was kicked by a horse. He and Mother was taken to the hospital in a police car. Our doctor suggested this rather than an ambulance as he wanted Mother to spend these final moments privately with him, not to mention how excited Ricky was hearing the sirens. Our family was never quite the same.
