Bio and Links
Bio Photo Besides working on my own family tree I'm building trees here and on to link the men, women and children buried at the state hospitals in Morganton, NC, Goldsboro, NC, Brattleboro, VT, Rusk, TX, New Toronto, Canada and in CT with their loved ones. I have also listed those buried at the Caswell Training Center in Kinston, NC and Letchworth Village in NY and hope to have assistance in linking them to their loved ones.

I grew up in Greenville county, SC, first in the city of Greenville, then at the foot of Glassy Mountain in the "Dark Corner" where my maternal grandmother and her parents and grandparents were born. My mother, Anne Ballenger King McCuen, worked for decades as a meticulous land historian in upper SC and published several research texts. My father, William Garrison McCuen, MD worked for decades as an internist/general practitioner caring for many of the upstate SC residents in their homes, hospitals, the Veterans' clinic and his office.

Now I am in the foothills of NC, but enjoy maintaining family property near Glassy Mtn.

You hereby have my express permission to use ANY photo I have made and posted to Find a Grave for your own purposes - but I would appreciate a credit notation as the source should you repost it on your family tree, for this reflects the efforts made in preserving the record and may also provide a link to others interested in that person or cemetery.

I "inherited" a number of memorials posted by Buck Buchanan who introduced me to FAG and will happily transfer them to family. Just send a SAC stating your relationship and I'll be pleased to turn them over to your care. Alternatively, if you are working to identify folks in a particular cemetery where Buck posted memorials and would like to manage the memorials he posted - just let me know and I'll be happy to transfer them to your management. I have found that Buck duplicated a few of the memorials he posted (and on occasion so have I) - if you find that to be the case please let me know so I can remove the duplicates.

As for those of you who assist me in making these memorials useful and respectful, "thanks" and please keep your helpful edits coming.

A lot of conflicts might be avoided among us if each of us will accept and act as if this is about those who've gone before and NOT about us.

My g-g-g-g-father, Miles Thomas Cole loved Cedar Springs, Abberville, South Carolina. You could not get him to leave that place(smile).

RE: Etta Cole Rice
Hi Suzannah, Yes, Thank You so very much! Yes Audry is her father. Etta's Mother, Mary COLE Rice raised her in her husband(Mat Rice) name. Mary was a widow in the 1900 census, Anderson, Anderson, South Carolina. If the 1890 census had not burned in the fire we would have learned a lot from the 1890 census. That was a very important census. Mary's Mother name was Charlott Allen Cole(1870 census & 1880 census)(Samuel and Clemensa Allen) were her parents(1850 census). Charlott married my Great-Great-Great-Great grandfather MILES COLE(1880 census.)On my great grandfather Miles Cole death certificate list his mother Elzia Strawther and Samuel Cole, his father. So we have Clemensa, Charlott, Mary, Addie(Etta's sister), Johnnie Mae Cole, Lila Mae Cole(my mother).

WOW!! I am REALLY SLOW answering emails!!! LOL
I am So Sorry :-)

Ella J. Mitchell dropped off the radar at about the Same time period that Daniel did ... and I'm thinking "before," because she did not provide
the info for Daniel's DC but their son-in-law, Ida's husband did it.

I'm thinking that is because none of the other sons were immediately available to do so; and neither was she; which also accounts for that
bogus Birth Year of 1848 on the DC. Also, according to their cousin, who took the
Headstone photos, he says she did in fact die a few months 'prior' to Daniel, and he's the Family Historian who keeps up with all of that stuff. :-

You can't go by whether a widower's deceased wife is identified or not, because that depends on 'who' is taking the information and whether they decide to skip recording it or not. In Many cases they will ask and record it anyway. Here in Michigan, they record Everything.
Blessings, Sandi :-)

Please feel free to add death certificates to any of the memorials I've created. I'll be happy to update them to match any dates on the certificates.
