Bio and Links
Bio Photo Besides working on my own family tree I'm working, through public records such as those found on, to identify the men, women and children buried at the state hospitals in Morganton, NC, Goldsboro, NC, Brattleboro, VT, Namozine, VA, Rusk, TX, New Toronto, Canada and Middletown, CT and to link them to their loved ones. I have also listed those buried at the Caswell Training Center in Kinston, NC and Letchworth Village in NY and hope to have assistance in linking them to their loved ones.

I grew up in Greenville county, SC, first in the city of Greenville, then at the foot of Glassy Mountain in the "Dark Corner" where my maternal grandmother and her parents and grandparents were born. My mother, Anne Ballenger King McCuen, worked for decades as a meticulous land historian in upper SC and published several research texts. My father, William Garrison McCuen, MD worked for decades as an internist/general practitioner caring for many of the upstate SC residents in their homes, hospitals, the Veterans' clinic and his office.

Now I am in the foothills of NC, but enjoy maintaining family property near Glassy Mtn.

You hereby have my express permission to use ANY photo I have made and posted to Find a Grave for your own purposes - but I would appreciate a credit notation as the source should you repost it on your family tree, for this reflects the efforts made in preserving the record and may also provide a link to others interested in that person or cemetery.

I "inherited" a number of memorials posted by Buck Buchanan who introduced me to FAG and will happily transfer them to family. Just send a SAC stating your relationship and I'll be pleased to turn them over to your care. Alternatively, if you are working to identify folks in a particular cemetery where Buck posted memorials and would like to manage the memorials he posted - just let me know and I'll be happy to transfer them to your management. I have found that Buck duplicated a few of the memorials he posted (and on occasion so have I) - if you find that to be the case please let me know so I can remove the duplicates.

As for those of you who assist me in making these memorials useful and respectful, "thanks" and please keep your helpful edits coming.

A lot of conflicts might be avoided among us if each of us will accept and act as if this is about those who've gone before and NOT about us.

Junius Wilson
Junius Wilson's mother was actually Mary Smith Wilson Clark, not Mary Foy Clark. The two Mary's were close in age and born on the same road but are most definitely 2 different people. Thanks

RE: Center Family Graves
Sorry I was only trying to help. Before I added the memorials I did a search on Find A Grave and nothing pulled up so I made the add. I did list in the bio of the cemetery my source of info which was from a Christopher B. McCarter, a great great great great grandson of William Center. I was unaware the picture wasn't his and I did not know the source from which he got the picture. The last name of Messy was also given by him. I have deleted the memorials that I had added. Again I was only trying to help, as I know first hand the loss of a family cemetery. We had one that was destroyed back in the 1960's and a Concrete slab and metal garage was built on the site with just 3 broken gravestones piled up in a corner underneath a tree between 2 fences - all that is left of a cemetery that contained maybe 20 graves. Thank you for pointing out this issue.

Please help me with a source for middle name "Haywood" so I can defend against challenging researchers. I can't find a single source for her or her parents. Thanks for all you do.

RE: McCuen
Vascoe is the husband of my great-aunt, Edna Lee Morris. My great-grandmother was Ila Lee Cantrell. She was illegitimate but I was informed by several of her nieces and nephews and 1 half-brother, that her step-father, Cicero B. Lovelace, was Ila's father. That he raped Eliza F. Cantrell when she was about 13. That's why Elizabeth Wall Cantrell Lovelace threw him out of her house and he ended up in Texas. I have a beautiful picture of Elizabeth. I recently had my DNA done and have matched up with the Wall line

I would love to get info on Vascoe and Edna and their children and their families. Would you be willing to share with me. I think I have a picture of them somewhere where they were with my great Grandmother, and her husband, William Thomas Roddy, and Edna's step-father, Landrum Morgan Morris. I think Zora Pridmore was there too. BTW, Elizabeth Wall Cantrell Lovelace had other children tree on is Palmetto Pedigrees. I am only just now adding and modifying my tree. I have about 40,000+ names in it. EEEKK!

Take care,
