Bio and Links
Bio Photo My passion each day is to get on Find A Grave and work. Taking pictures of headstones and seeing the lives that were is very humbling to me. I come away from the cemeteries in tears sometimes. I mourn those who have gone before.

I was on a contributor site reading her bio. I want to share a portion of what she said:

"I am getting more and more confused by this site. If people create or post memorials with no OR incorrect burial location and I add a memorial for them in the correct location... I am asked to remove mine because theirs was on first; It seems like there are many rude people on find a grave."

There are many people that want to get huge numbers next to their names. That is not the conjecture of this site. And that certainly is not me. I am here to help others find their past. And in doing that, I help myself in finding my past. I don't post or create if I don't know where they are. And I won't delete mine.

REQUEST A MEMORIAL TO BE TRANSFERRED TO YOU THROUGH THE "EDIT" TAB ONLY. GIVE ME YOUR RELATIONSHIP AND YOUR CONTRIBUTOR NUMBER. WITHOUT THESE, IT WON'T HAPPEN.

Since Ancestry.com has taken over Find A Grave, and the memorial is in their name now, if you are not a "direct line" descendant - you are not able to get it. I have requested to have some family names transferred to me from contributors which have been family that passed away and the memorials are in find a grave's name. Since I am not a "direct line" - they will not. So I am adopting the practice of only transferring per Find a Grave's "direct 4 generation rule". I am happy to transfer your immediate family (spouse, children, grandchild, parents, your siblings, or grandparents). I will no longer transfer outside of these relationships.

However, I will be more than pleased to transfer direct line memorials if they are not part of my own family or family I am working on or friends. Some of the lines I am researching are Masters, Chamblee, Keith, Kay, Hoffman, Veitch, Harding, Randolph, Isham, Totherow, Whitworth, Cartright, Murray, Magnusson, Bird, Stapley, Bliss, Pomeroy, Cunningham, Roth, Harding, Quinlan and Hannum.

Love my ancestors and the treasures they have given me.

Because of the passing of contributor's Kathy McConnell and ancestorsatrest, I have been given a good portion of their memorials to take care of.

Elaine Berger has transferred the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery memorials for me to take care of.

The link to this Isaac Shepherd was incorrect. Apparently, there are several errors in the relationship between this Elizabeth and her father, an Isaac Shepherd, Jr. in Ancestry.com family trees. Problem I've found using these trees are the lack of valid source documents. And, someone uses this information as a way to make the link in a website that is not meant to be used for genealogy. Also, it is unfortunate that this incorrect information continues to be used.
The Red Oak Pres. Church record for this Isaac Shepherd's death, 1811, is correct.
As a result I requested Erika to delete the link to this Isaac Shepherd. The dates for an Isaac Jr. seems appropriate.
Thank you very much for identifying this inaccuracy.

Dear Penne Magnusson Hannum:

I am currently compiling in hard copy the Cheadle family history of which the above is married to a descendant of the progenitor, George Cheadle. My mother-in-law was a Cheadle. I am NOT requesting transfer of any memorials. I consider it a common courtesy to respectfully request permission to download gravestone photos which pertain to our line as well as information from obituaries, etc., regardless of copyrights. I normally give credit as “Courtesy, ancesttorsatrest (through Penne Magnusson Hannum), contributor, Find A Grave Memorial # ? ? ?”. For those who do not wish credit, I use “Courtesy of Find A Grave contributor who wishes to remain anonymous” which lets people know I am not plagiarizing other peoples’ research without their knowledge. I would prefer to have a written response but if I do not hear from you by Sep 15 I will presume I have your permission and will use the named credit as above.

My treatise is in no way a profit making project and will not (by my request) be posted on the internet nor will living individuals be included to the best of my ability.

You have no idea how much we who are of an age (I’m 85) or distance and cannot traipse through cemeteries as we once did appreciate the effort and passion of you who contribute to Find A Grave. Many thanks from an old lady. In many cases (such as this one) I don’t even have an idea where the person is buried!

.
Im not sure what you mean. There are two entries for Matilda/Anne Marie Matilda and two for Amon/Peter Amon. Esther was their daughter.
The birth and death dates are the same for all four entries- they are they same people.

Hi.
These are your two duplicates:
Memorial# 87487799
Memorial# 99682543
The name "Peter" is not listed at his birth in Norway, nor in any censuses, records or on the tombstone in the US.
The wife is actually a dupe as well:
Memorial# 87485894
Memorial# 99682552
Thank you.

I transferred a memorial that was set up for this child that includes family links. You also set up one that has a photo. Will you combine them?

RE: Memorials
Oh, Penne, that would be absolutely wonderful!!! I want to be able to have memorials for all of the deceased family members that I "talk about" in my book. I have them all alphabetized on a spreadsheet and as I work my way through them, I'll most certainly be in touch with you. Thank you so much for your kindness; and, please, if I can help you with any of your memorials, just let me know what I can do. I was born in southern MN and lived there for 24 years, then married a military man, and now live in the Wash DC area. I'm looking forward to working with you.

RE: Memorials
Thanx for writing Penne, it's nice to know the background on the memorials. I've noticed Kathy's name on several other memorials that I've worked with. Janzig and Krueger are a couple families that I know without looking them up. All of these families are included in my book. When you have a minute, look up Emilie "Amelia" (Nimz) Schauer, #87201701. She's my great grandmother and the title of my book is "Finding Emilie." Once you get into her memorial, you'll notice that all of the people that we're talking about are the descendants of Emilie's oldest son, John Frederick Janzig, and oldest daughter, Augusta Wilhelmine (Janzig) Krueger. Are you able to tell me how Kathy was related to them? If you ever need help with any of the people buried in the Rosehill and surrounding area cemeteries (Fairbault County, MN), please let me know, I might be able to help.

RE: Memorials
Thanx so much, Penne, for the two memorial transfers. As I told you, I've just written a genealogy book, which includes the ancestors of the Seedorf and Giese families. Now, I'm trying to create Find A Grave memorials and/or add biographies and photos (to existing memorials) for all of my deceased relatives who are mentioned in my book. I've been working on this project for more than eight years and hope to have the book published within the next month. My book includes eight generations; but, I don't seem to have your name included. Can you please tell me your relationship to the Seedorf and Giese families? Thanx again for your kindness in sharing these memorials with me.
