I'm a graduate of Leopold High School where my father served as Supt. of Schools and the consolidation of the Public School system in the 1950's. He went on to become the Bollinger Co. Supt. of Schools. I went on to graduate from the University of Missouri with dual degress in Business Education and English. |
Having grown up in Leopold, I know many of the grandparents, parents and children who reside in the local area much less the cemetery. As of 2006, I have posted with photos the majority of residents in St. John's Cemetery and have worked hard to find information about each person and hopefully linked them to their relatives.
I also have relatives in St. Francois, Washington, Franklin, Cape Girardeau, and Crawford counties. I try to post information I come across to those boards on findagrave or rootsweb etc.
Hopefully, many families will be blessed in the future by life history preserved for them.

Mary, I was up at the city cemeteries today helping with "Friends of the Park" and planting flowers with my granddaughter there so I went ahead and took a picture of the grave for Henry (Harry) Naeter in the mausoleum. Hope that was ok. I liked what you wrote on his memorial page and perhaps it is best to leave them both so family can find him. Ruth
|Ruth Smith||Henry Naeter - burial|
Hello Mary: Sorry to inform you but your memorial page for Henry Arnold Naeter at Fairmount is a duplicate for #7961147 at New Lorimier Cemetery. I know the obituary states he was buried in the mausoleum at Fairmount but that is actually located in New Lorimier. These two cemeteries are side by side so it is confusing. John Taylor placed a picture of his grave on this other page.
Your story about him is so interesting, I don't know what to suggest - maybe make a note on your page of where his actual burial is located?
What tipped me off was the fact he is not on the burial list for Fairmount.
One problem is John Hinkle who set up this other page is very hard to get in contact with, but you could try and ask him to transfer his page to you and you could add what you wrote?
Best of luck. Ruth Smith

I am looking for information on Mary C. Patterson Hutchings.
I am looking for Her parents. Do you have any family records that might state what her father and mothers name were.
Any help will be appreciated. I also noticed that on the listing for Richard Hutchings there was a bible do you have that bible.
Let me know.
|Elizabeth Tilton||Thomas Briggs and Lucy Jack|
My granddaughter's husband is a descendant of Thomas Briggs and the Siletz Indian woman whom I assume to be his first wife (name unknown),
through their daughter Louisa Briggs who married Charles Frederic Walker. I am wondering if you are connected with this family.
Perhaps you might be able to provide us with any information about the two Indian wives of Thomas Briggs.I would be interested in where you found out that "Lucy Jack Brown" is "Mrs. Thomas Briggs."
Many thanks for any guidance you might be able to provide with respect to these interesting ancestors.
|Ruth Smith||Henry Arnold Naeter|
Hello again Mary: I see we have exchanged messages before. I am still working on Fairmount and New Lorimier (in Cape Girardeau) records and ran across a problem today. You have memorial page #37146371 for Henry Arnold Naeter (1881-1918) buried at Fairmount in the mausoleum and the obituary does state that. However it is a duplicate of : Harry Arnold Naeter #7961147 and he is actually buried at the mausoleum in New Lorimier. Fairmount does not have a mausoleum. This memorial page was established by John Hinkle on Oct. 8, 2003. What to do? Your obituary is so very nice and it would be sad for it to be deleted. Can you combine these two memorials? Or contact John Hinkle and ask him to add your obituary to his page? Mr. Naeter's wife and son are also buried at New Lorimier. At first I thought I would put the picture of his grave on both pages, but I did not take the one at N.L. Let me know if I can help. Thanks. Ruth
|Mary Lavezzari||Frank and Florence Brands|
Dear Mary, I am doing research for a friend who is the decendant of Frank and Florence Brands. They are buried in the St John's Cemetery in Bollinger Missouri. You have provided two fine photos for their memorial. Do you remember if these are 2 sides of the same marker. We are trying to prove to the DAR that they are husband and wife. I appreciate any information you might be able to provide me. Thank you for your great work volunteering for findagrave. Mary Lavezzari
