I started researching my family history in 1999 and is now a passion.

I wanted to visit cemeteries that my family was buried and started photoing them. My goal is to visit and photo all of the cemeteries.

Seeing so many cemeteries deteriorating and headstones fading away, I decided to begin to photo all of the area cemeteries and put on-line (2007).

I live in Preble County, Ohio but my father's family roots are in Eastern Kentucky ... Boyd Co, Elliott Co, etc. I research the Fraley, Ison, Hamilton, Barker families. On my mother's side are the Trimble & Fugate families from Butler Co OH and Breathitt Co KY.

RE: Fraley Family Cemetery
# 25830142 is in Fraley Family Cemetery with 14 others and has a map on cemetery home page and you posted a picture of the layout.

# 34722731 is in Fraley Family Cemetery (Route 706) with 3 others. It has directions on the home page that looks like it is the same or very close to the one above.

I see what you mean about a lot of Fraley Cemeteries, when I used Cemetery lookup with Fraley in the name line and Elliott county, Kentucky, I got quite a list. Looks like they buried their dead on the farmsteads where they lived and died.

Sorry to bother you with this, just curious. Again thank you for all the work you do for Find A Grave. Don

Thank you Rhonda for posting the two pictures on here of my great - grandparents. IT is so nice to see these photos as I've never got to visit their grave . My great aunt Eva , up on happy ridge, showed her photo albums to me and a Gillum cousin( sis) back in the early 90's when I went down to kentucky to visit my family and it brought tears to my eyes to see all my Bates kin , especially her mom and dad who also were our great-grandparents) . Anyway , I sure do thank you, vickie

Fraley Family Cemetery
Are there in fact 2 of these cemeteries located very close together or did someone start a new one without looking for the original? One only has 4 people and you put in 3 of them, but you've also posted some pictures on the other one.

Just a little confused, but really appreciate all of the work you do for Find A Grave. Thanks, Don

My name is Tyler McNeal. John C. McNeal was my Great Grandfather. His son Patrick is my grandfather and is son James is my father. I just wanted to thank you for posting all of the pictures of the family! I am doing some digging of my own and finding out a lot about the Boggs and the McNeals. (Or Mcneil as I am finding out!)

Thank you again for all of the work you have put into this. hopefully I will have some to contribute within the next couple of weeks as I build the family tree!

Hi! Its your cousin on the Rice side of things.
Was just cruising through The Big Sandy News on Chronicling America for Jan 6, 1922 and found this obit, thought it was so very sad-sometimes it helps to put flesh on the bones as it were...

"Ashland Girl Dies of Burns
Frightened when her dress caught fire from the flames of a gas stove, Iva McNeal, 13 year old daughter of Theodore McNeal, ran out of a confectionary , into the street, a mass of flames. Her life was probably saved by the quick action of a spectator who smothered the flames with his overcoat. The girl, in a serious condition, was taken to the hospital where her death occured a few days later."

You don't have to do anything with it, I just thought it was interesting to have the story behind the tombstone

Your Cousin
Ann, whose Uncle Jimmy Horton married into the Fraleys.

Gary Allen Griffith
I was born Mary Christina Griffith . Gary Griffith is my father. My brother (Gary Allen Riffe) and I were adopted at a young age and even though I can remember my grandmother Irene Griffith and my great grandparents Volna and Effie Fraley my brother cannot. Finding these pictures of my family has been the biggest blessing to us. Now my brother and 3 children can add these pics to our family albums. I just can't thank you enough.
