Daughter of Evelynn Grace Beebe Lovelace (Allen) (83822715, Hennessey, OK Cemetery) and Ralph Lovelace (6037350, FT Snelling National Cemetery, MN). My beautiful little sister is here: 84143742. I am very interested in genealogy of Lovelace, Neighbors, Watt (and associated Michigan/Quebec CA families), and McCullough, Lynn, Gregory, and Beebe (and associated Oklahoma) families.

I am a veteran (U.S. Navy, Retired), as was my father. I pay respects to all whose markers I photograph, but I have to say there is a soft spot in my heart for those who served. I love finding veteran markers and trying to learn more about those individuals.

My current project is photographing old cemeteries in and around coastal Lincoln County, Maine. When I was researching my mother's family, I found it very helpful to have websites available where people had posted historical information and photos from a variety of sources, and that's how I feel about Find-a-Grave and doing this work.

Maine is a state rich in old history and there are a lot of avid family historians looking to websites like Find-a-Grave to piece together the fabric of who they are and where they have come from. I love walking these cemeteries, photographing and trying to read old stones, and finding bits of historical information, such as shipwrecks and such. I find it so interesting some of the things people have put on the stones of their loved ones.

One of the most poignant so far, from an old slate stone in Evergreen Cemetery, Wiscasset, Maine:

"Erected by parental affection to the memory of Mr. James Whittier, son of Capt. Ebenezer Whittier & Elizabeth his wife, who died April 17th, 1798, of a consumption on a passage to the West Indies, Aged 25. The disease which terminated his existence originated in the death of his fair and betrothed friend who lies interred near this monument. In life they loved, in death they are not divided." (Sadly, the other stone is no more, so I never discovered his "fair and betrothed friend.").

It means a lot for me to contribute to Find-a-Grave so people can learn about their families or conduct research.
