Remember, I will still be here
As long as you hold me in your memory
Our findagrave activity stemmed from my love of genealogy, photography and old gravestones, strengthened when we saw the damage one year of weather does to an older stone that cannot stand the test of time well. We believe everyone deserves to be remembered, beyond plain, cold statistics, and document as much as we are able, especially as we travel. This is a wondrous site where the upcoming generations can easily find their history and ancestors. Even after we are gone, our work will remain. Thank you, Findagrave.
We are all simply the guardians of those we have kindly added until their family comes along. I am eager to transfer anyone who is not family to family. Demands will be ignored, "please" is simply common courtesy. People with kind, sincere words make my day.
I take my heritage, 'graving' and documentation very seriously and most respectfully. Accuracy is of the most utmost importance to me, not who 'owns' a memorial. If I have made an error, please, please, let me know, politely. Cooperation is the entire point of this site. I now understand why people leave Findagrave. If you are rude, I will ignore you.
** I spend over half my time on Findagrave JUST sending edits to admin for duplicates, not documenting cemeteries any more. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE double check before you add a historical person from the 1600's or back. Nine times out of ten, they have already been added.
** PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the FAQ concerning BURIALS UNKNOWN. They are to be used for RECENT deaths only, not your 176th great grandfather whose burial is 'not located yet.'
**If you will not honor an update sent in by another volunteer, you are doing the memorial, AND the hard work of the volunteers a real injustice, not to mention the Findagrave admins who now have to do YOUR WORK. If you don't want to do updates, give your memorials to someone who will, PLEASE.
**Do not use my photos without permission, and ask BEFORE you use them. Simple, reasonable. And, if your pictures are crooked, poor quality, out of focus, too dark to read, taken at night, shadowed, or the stone is covered in dirt or weeds, or your finger was in front of the lens, I will add my photo on the memorial. Sorry. Please have the respect to post only decent, well thought out photos.
**USE THE MEMORIAL EDIT/SUGGESTION OPTION ON THE MEMORIAL you want updated for updates requests, transfer requests, general inquiries ANY memorial. I will IGNORE AND DELETE suggestions, requests and updates and inquiries left HERE or in EMAIL, as they are REPEATEDLY, DESPITE THIS stupidly bold NOTICE.

Thank you! I appreciate your help, everything is accurate. It is helping my research in Ancestry.com. It is really neat to find info here to add to my family tree. I'm so glad to be able to look up the Graves of my ancestors. & to know where they are at.

Anne, I was to Gettysburg for a week in March, was there 1st week of May, and will be going the last week of June. I skip July and August, and then go in Sept, and Nov. As for the cemeteries I always visit the National Cemetery and Evergreen, then out where the 1st days battle took place is another little cemetery I like to visit, it is along Howard Ave, it is a neat little cemetery.

Anne, I am going to list them in the National Cemetery, Anne, finding and placing unknowns in cemeteries where they belong, this is a passion with me, most people don't realize that we have over 142,000 unknown soldiers in our National cemeteries. Anne, I will added him to the National cemetery at Gettysburg, and I will just have to see what takes place, thank you for your kind note. Ted

Anne, Thank you for kindly for your note to me. Anne, I know John very well he has helped me many times in the past. I have no doubt that the soldiers you refer to are buried as unknowns in the National cemetery. I have made checks to see if they may have been buried in their home towns. When I did post soldiers in the National cemetery listed as "Unknown" Find-A-Grave wrote and told me to remove them, I put up a fight but they still wanted them removed, the only way I could get by with it, was by listing burial location unknown. And I am not the only one who has done this. Before I enter a soldier I do a great deal of research on the soldier. And also use John Busey's book, these Honor Dead as a reference. Which is a great reference guide. Looking forward to hearing from you. Ted

Thank you for updating Marie's memorial and for the heads up for future corrections. I have no idea why I haven't used that before. Will do in the future. Thanks

It is my ancestor too, along with the other ones I sponsored last night. You do a nice job on the memorials. We have so many ancestors in common.
