Bio

I am the oldest of 5 children born to Merle R. & Shirley Y. (BAICHTAL) HARDY. I was born in Sac City, Iowa on Feb. 29, 1940. Parents divorced in 1945 . . we were raised by our Great-aunt Sarah "Sadie" Ellen LOSURE~STATON until we each left the "nest". GOD bless her soul.

I was a career USAF Policeman .. retired on June 30, 1977, with 20 years service (including Vietnam~ 1965-66 & 1968-69).

Between careers, I received a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from Southwest Texas State Univ. Dec. 1979. Renamed, it is now Texas State Univ.~San Marcos,TX.

Police Officer in Sumner, Iowa, 1980~83.

In April 1983 I was hired as the Chief of Police in Carlisle,Iowa.. small suburb of Des Moines (southeast corner), Iowa.

I retired June 30, 1999 after 16 years as
Chief of Carlisle Police Department with a
total of 19 years as a Civilian Policeman.

* My wife Lucille M. (BUCK) HARDY
{Born & raised in San Antonio,Texas} ~ has an *Accounting degree from the University of Northern Iowa (1983)
and a *Law degree from the University of Iowa Law School (1986).

Lucy was an Assistant Iowa Attorney General
from 1986 to 2006, retired June 15, 2006 with 20 years service.

Lucy is currently licensed to practice Law in Iowa and Texas.

We have two sons, one a Lieutenant and one a Captain, who are currently on the Des Moines Police Department and a daughter-in-law who is a Des Moines P.D. Detective.

Between Lucy & I, we have 12 children, 27 grandchildren & 18 great-grandchildren.

As of 2016, we are living in Stockbridge, Georgia and are members of the Eagles Landing Baptist Church in McDonough, GA, where our son-in-law is a pastor. It is home church of 5 of the 7 members of the Casting Crowns contemporary Christian singing group.

Genealogy, reading, computer, movies & travel are our hobbies.
