I created the Find A Grave website because I could not find an existing site that catered to my hobby of visiting the graves of famous people. Much to my surprise, I found that there were many thousands of folks from around the world that shared my interests. Seeing Find A Grave grow and grow beyond my wildest expectations has been one of the great joys of my life.
I was born in Alma, Michigan but spent most of my youth in Denver, Colorado. I attended Grinnell College in Iowa and earned a BA in music. I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I enjoy playing and writing music, reading, table tennis, foosball and disc-golf (the macho sports). | |

 | Thank You For the past 25 years I worked on my family genealogy and got very little information. Now that I am part of Find a Grave (and Ancestry.com). I have found more information then I ever did. THANK YOU for creating Find a Grave. I am now part of this in my hometown where I can help others find family members grave here in Jackson,TN (Madison County). I love going to cemeteries and taking photos. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! | | | Janice Cassell
 | my family graves I created my family graves, Charles Mathis, Minnie Ola Mathis, etc Springville, Tenn. Someone else created them who is not related in any way to my family. Someone deleted my family graves. Why wasn't the unknown person's graves deleted? | | | Sara Stogowska

 | Need answers We have a memorial creator in our area who put a lot of incorrect info on people memorials. In some cases, he seems to have put the same dates for a bunch of people. He won't respond to correction requests either. Contacting findagrave.com does not get a response either. Does someone really run the web site? How can we take over a memorial without the creators permission so we can correct these memorials and add more info to the page? | | | Diane Whitney
 | Complaints For all those out there complaining about duplicate photo taking from others, this is suppose to be a rewarding and fun thing for everyone to volunteer and to remind those this is FREE website for volunteers to contribute. If someone claims a photo request, so be it. If they are unable to take the photo, maybe an emergency came up. That does not mean someone else cannot go out and take a photo of the same grave or gives anyone the right to complain about someone else. I tend to take different angles for a different feeling of the grave even if someone has claimed that photo. Please. Life is too short and love is in short demand in the world today. Love thy neighbor and lets all work together for the better of mankind. Thank you and Semper Fi. Diane | | | Diane Whitney

 | Problem with a Contributor I have a problem with a contributor (Roger Atkins 46562712) He has been submitting photo requests & not fulfilling them. He has been giving wrong information about the photo requests. He has been taking photo requests & not submitting them or some other contributors has claimed the photo requests & he has take the grave site photo before the claim has been fulfilled. Example I received a photo request yesterday & claimed the photo request. Then today after taking the photo I notice a grave site photo was already taken by Roger(46562712). Please help me with this situation.

 | Sarah hoch Mt Olivet Cemetery, Salt lake City, Utah Sarah Hoch
Should read father is Samuel Tarr, not Farr. Sarah was born to Mary and Samuel Tarr in Ohio. Census is correct, she was born in Ohio, death records say born in Iowa (in error). She lived in Iowa, but was not born there. Her mother, Mary died about 1834 and her father, Samuel, remarried Sarah Varney, 1841 in Cedar, Iowa. Sarah married Edward Hoch in 1847, also Cedar, Iowa. If the census is correct, Sara was 14 when she married Edward Hoch.
Could you correct the error on the father's last name. The Early Iowa Marriages 1850 and before, Cedar Marriages lists her as TARR.
