I have been doing genealogy as a hobby for over 25 years and am gradually adding members of my family and others to Find A Grave, and/or adding personal photos from my collection and details to memorials which you wonderful volunteers have already added. I have Swedish ancestry and enjoy doing Swedish research in my spare time.
Besides my family and its connections in the USA and Sweden, my other areas of interest are historical, war and military graves in Europe. The purpose of my contributions to the Find A Grave website is to respectfully honor and help preserve the memories of those who have gone before us.
Please use the edit tab on each memorial page for suggestions, corrections or additions.
My grave photos are free to anyone for non-profit use, and it would be much appreciated if you gave credit to Find A Grave.
Thanks to everyone for your contributions and for so promptly filling requests! I will upgrade all memorials where photo requests of mine are fulfilled.
Thanks for your reply. Thanks also for the photos which you took.
The plus-side of the approach is that I found out that my relative had been in Dachau, a fact which I hadnt known previously which has now opened up new areas of research. So, whilst, it is miseleading to indicate that all the prisoners died there, there was a helpful spin-off for me.
Nevertheless, clarification on the find-a-grave site is needed and I will contact the International Wargraves Photography Project, as suggested. The IWPP Custodial Account has messaging disabled and no email address available, so I will use the first one.
Dachau memorial I have a question recording the Dachau memorial site. I have found a record listed for a relative. I am still investigating but I'm not sure whether he died there as the records showed he was liberated.
Can you tell me the source for the names of the people on the find-a-grave site for this memorial please ? Or give me a contact name to follow up. I also saw a message along the same lines from Kaz from March of this year, so I think it would be useful if the people who maintain the find-a-grave site could indicate on the page the source. Whilst many did die at Dachau, not all did and it can be misleading and potentially distressing to record all of them as having died there.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions on this.
H Watt (Hanover Militray Cemetary) I Would just like to say thank to you for adding my Dad's Headstone Photo. I do have a few old photo's of his headstone taken back in the 60's when my Uncle visited but I could never read what the inscription said at the bottom but now I can. I must say my heart skipped a beat to see I was included not in name but as daughter.
RE: Olof Andersson, Karlstad I fixed the photo on that grave in 2012, from a request by user ditdit. I do not know how you are related to Olof Andersson, but I today by regular email got a large amount of info concerning Olof and his family. But it's all in Swedish ... please send me a private message - use email shown at my Find A Grave bio /Olle K, Karlstad Sweden
