Bio and Links
Bio Photo We have been researching our family for about 29 years and have traveled to several states for genealogy. Many of our memorials are for "extended" family members, but others are not. We hope someone finds the information we post helpful in their own research.

Except for those photos listed within our *Posted with Permission* virtual cem, every tombstone or cemetery photo we post was taken by us on the date indicated in the photo caption.

-- All contributor-posted photographs are intended for PERSONAL USE, unless stated otherwise. To comply with current Copyright Law, you SHOULD NOT post (and/or republish) any contributor's cemetery or tombstone photos elsewhere without permission.

-- As contributors retain the copyright on ALL photos that they have taken and posted, it is actually NOT acceptable to just indicate you took the photo from Find A Grave (since this site does not own the copyright to any of the contributor-posted photographs).

Regarding our cemetery and tombstone photographs, specifically...

-- We will normally grant permission for unaltered OTHER USE when asked, but with the added stipulation that you provide a photo source citation (by referencing both "Find A Grave" [or] AND our profile name AND # in the Description) for any photographs taken from this website; for example, "Photo courtesy of Find A Grave Contributor: Law-Miller Roots (#47103448)".

-- Note that you can provide a link back to the Find A Grave memorial, instead of copying (i.e. Ancestry's built-in "weblinks" function can be used for this exact purpose). This option works quite well.

-- Please do not download and then republish any family portraits we post, as these come from private family collections.

NOTE: If we've submitted a memorial that you want to make corrections to, or if you would like a memorial transferred (and we're not also related in some way) let us know via the Edit Tab and we'll take care of it asap.

Himes genealogy
Do you know who the parents are of Christian Himes referenced in the section below:

Israel Himes
Birth: 1834
New Salem Armstrong County Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Jun. 4, 1864

Israel Himes was the son of Christian and Anna Mary Himes. He married Susannah Copenhaver on 30 Aug 1857 in Redbank Twp., Armstrong Co., PA.

I have seen this family, but I don't have any connections yet to my Himes family:
David, James 1663 - 1744, Benjamin 1696 - 1771, Amos Sr 1747 - 1805, Amos Jr 1787 - 1843, Tyrus 1818 - 1879, Helen Z 1848 - 1928.
Do you know if Christian ties into my Himes family anywhere?

Hannah Brown Holmes
Hello again,
I would like to respectively make a request to have the photo of Hannah Holmes' gravestone taken at Shock Cemetery be removed from Find A Grave Memorial# 79133459. I recently got in touch with the person who created the memorial, because I happen to have a bible record and an obituary that I wanted to share with her that confirms that the person of the same name whose gravestone she requested a photo of, was a different Hannah Holmes than she had beleved at the time of making the request. As I understand it, the gravestone was actually for the 1st wife of Hannah and Jedediah Holmes' son, Jedediah, Jr., whose last name before her marriage was also Brown. The person who made the photo request says she is very sorry that she put you to the trouble, but I think it easy to see how she made the error. Thanks

Valentine Phillips

I have added information on Valentine's Revolutionary War service to his memorial. If you are interested, I have a lot more information on the battle and also on him - including a copy of his last will and testament.

RE: Japhed Shearman
Thanks, I will be happy to maintain the Japhed Sherman memorial. I have visited the cemetery more than once and know how hard it is to read many of the the stones. Unfortunately I never had a camera with me so I really appreciate your contributions, especially the photo of Jedediah Holmes' gravestone.
