Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am constantly tramping through cemeteries in Starke and Lake Counties, Indiana, looking for relatives for the family tree. If I can help someone else in the process, I'd be glad to. If someone wants a memorial transferred, just ask. I'm focusing on the last names of Gappa, Lemke, Huebner, Schacht, Keehn, Byer, Haley, Helms, Giffin, Wilhelm, Schnaufer, and Kaiser for me while I'm working on Swatts, Brooke, Johnson, Mathias, and Vanaman for my cousin.

Lewis Powers
You posted a photo of his wife's headstone at Round Lake Cemetery. Do you know is Lewis has one? Also are you related to Duane Gappa?

You're welcome, Andy and I'm glad you found his wife. I'm not sure why, but I don't remember ever seeing a husband and wife buried together in the Civil War section. In the newer section they do all the time, but not in the old sections.

RE: Ellenora Dean Austin
I am related to the Chapel line through the Schell family. As far as Hazel (nee Ake) goes, I've lost her after the 1920 census. Nice photo of her on ancestry. I guess it stands to reason she was in the theatre. Howard owned the Pastime Theatre in Garrett, for a short while. In the 30 Apr 1930 census it says he is widowed. It has been awhile since I researched this line, I was thinking they got divorced. On the marriage application to Florence Holsinger, his third wife, it states he was married once before, that should have said twice before. Then it states he was divorced. I guess that could mean from his first wife Iva Myrtle Dunfee, not Hazel, but I would think that would pertain to the lastest wife, since they want to make sure your aren't married.

Our family tree is Robinson under BALONUT.

Thanks for the heads up on Ellenora (nee Dean) Chapel Austin memorial situation!
