Besides working on my own family tree I'm building trees here and on Ancestry.com to link the men, women and children buried at the state hospitals in Morganton and Goldsboro and at the Caswell Training Center in Kinston, NC and Letchworth Village in NY to their loved ones.|
I grew up in Greenville county, SC, first in the city of Greenville, then at the foot of Glassy Mountain in the "Dark Corner" where my maternal grandmother and her parents and grandparents were born. My mother, Anne Ballenger King McCuen, worked for decades as a meticulous land historian in upper SC and published several research texts. My father, William Garrison McCuen, MD worked for decades as an internist/general practitioner caring for many of the upstate SC residents in their homes, hospitals, the Veterans' clinic and his office.
Now I am in the foothills of NC, but enjoy maintaining family property near Glassy Mtn.
You hereby have my express permission to use ANY photo I have posted to Find a Grave for your own purposes - but I would appreciate a credit notation as the source should you repost it on your family tree, for this reflects the efforts made in preserving the record and may also provide a link to others interested in that person or cemetery.
I "inherited" a number of memorials posted by Buck Buchanan who introduced me to FAG and will happily transfer them to family. Just send a SAC stating your relationship and I'll be pleased to turn them over to your care.
As for those of you who assist me in making these memorials useful and respectful, "thanks" and please keep your helpful edits coming.
A lot of conflicts might be avoided among us if each of us will accept and act as if this is about those who've gone before and NOT about us.

Dear Suzannah, I am looking for the exact location of the Nickels-Wright-Holmes Family Cemetery in Laurens County, South Carolina. I noticed you had created the graves listed at this cemetery and was curious if you knew anything more about the site, its history, or specific location. Thank you for your time and effort!

Thank you Ms Susannah for taking on such a daunting task of finding, photographing and listing those who have died at the state hospitals. Most of us know that Broughton was and may still be (idk) a horrific, hideous place of abuse and torture. Especially way back in its history. I did not know my great great grandfather was there. I was told I had a cousin there. J D Crocker. I'm not sure if it was his son or my great grandfather George Bergen Crocker's son. Gonna have to look that up somehow. I think I was told J D had epilepsy and not crazy. Thank you again Ms Susanna.

Have you looked at her family members on her memorial page?
Thank you for your time!
Am wondering where you got information on RUffin W. and Rosa Coffield and their children. Information from family members gave seven children. The data on George Herman Coffield and my data are the same, except that family members added that he was very good-looking. Louise was called Sunbeam by family. I would like to communicate further. These people would be my greatgrandparents (by marriage).

There is a marker, but I do not have a picture. I live in West Columbia, SC, so I can't get to the cemetery easily to make a picture.

Thanks for the update. I spend about half an hour last night on google Earth trying to see potential burial areas. It would be nice if some group in that area could undertake cleaning it up.
Thank you for your work in listing these people. On the Find A Grave Volunteer Facebook page you read of similar hospitals, prisons, institutions where many forgotten people are buried.
Thanks for your work.
