Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been collecting family history for the last 35 years. My husband and I have deep Kansas roots. His are in Ottawa, Lincoln, and Cloud counties; mine are in Wabaunsee, Pottawatomie, and Shawnee counties. Our people have been in this state since 1857, and I find more little items about their everyday lives as I read the old weekly newspapers on microfilm at the Kansas Historical Society's archives in Topeka.
I post family trees at Rootsweb and Ancestry, and post obits on the surname pages at Rootsweb if I don't know the cemetery where the burial is.

I'm currently working on four projects:
1. Working with others to photograph Mount Hope Cemetery, one of the large city cemeteries in Topeka, Kansas.
2. Reading my way through the Cloud County, Kansas, Glasco Sun, sharing obits as I find them. Most connect to one of my husband's family lines.
3. Reading old issues of the Alma Signal/Enterprise, Wabaunsee County
4. Reading old issues of the Cherokee Sentinel, Crawford County, adding obits to the Cherokee cemetery.

NOTE: If you would like me to look for additional information on burials in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, or Cherokee Cemetery in Crawford County, please let me know via the edit tab on the page.

Just saw an edit for him~if I understand it, you don't believe that his father is Leroy Freeman Bailey and you want to edit it to unknown? I am confused. I am pretty sure that he is.

Let me know what you think.

I believe the stone date is probably wrong. Read your article again is says in her 24th year. The stone was probably not made immediately. I figure the newspaper would not have printed an obit a year after her death.

Many thanks for your note about taking a picture of his stone and
especially letting me know that his mother is buried next to him. Something I didn't know. Really appreciate your picture!

Cherokee Cemetery
My wife and I live about 10 miles from this cemetery. We went looking for graves last night that you have requested. We will go back in a few days. Not sure how much luck we will have in the older section of the cemetery as many of the graves are worn so badly that you can not read them. We are just systematically working our way through the cemetery. Like reading your obits. Keep up the good work.
