Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy work for over 25 years with brief intervals of inactivity when my life took different turns.

I love going to all the old cemeteries in South Georgia marveling at some of the old tombstones, some of which are quite elaborate and expensive even for that period of time, and thinking about how our ancestors lived. Since my husband and I shared so many ancestors (including at least three great-great-great grandfathers), it was an easy task getting information about our "kinfolk".

When my husband of nearly 40 years passed away in 2002 my enthusiasm for genealogy waned somewhat and I did little research for a couple of years; then I found the FindAGrave website and entered a few memorials. I absolutely love entering memorials and posting pictures of tombstones for so many of the South Georgia cemeteries which I have helped "survey" over the years thus enabling so many people access to this information. I especially like being able to link families and consider this one of the most important features of FindAGrave.

I believe when entering genealogy information one should always be open to criticism in order to get information as accurate as possible -- especially when it is posted on the internet for so many thousands of people to view. Though complete accuracy is so hard to achieve I will always strive for accuracy.....should anyone find incorrect information on any of my memorials please do not hesitate to advise. However, please keep in mind that other contributors have possibly given me incorrect information.

I will be pleased to know, whether or not, my cousin, Emma Clark, buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, 1926, has a tombstone or not.

If there is a stone, I'll appreciate your getting a photo posted on Find A Grave.

Lori Anne Franklin
Minnie Mims Butler
Hi Barbara, my name is Lori Anne (Sweat)Franklin - I spent my youth in Alma Ga at he family home of my mother, Patricia Dianne (Lee) Sweat. She is the daughter of Ralph Lee and Frances Mildred (Butler) Lee. Her father was Mr. Etsel Butler, her mother was Minnie May Mims Butler. Thank you for posting the image of the headstone of my great-grand parents. On behalf of my many cousins and aunts and uncles, there were other children of Etsel(sp?) and Minnie. You have listed Nellie and Claude. My Aunt Verlene, uncle Royce, uncle Jimmy and my grandmother Frances Mildred are not listed. I will work on getting the dates of their birth and deaths for you.
Thank you!

I believe that I had already made the change to Orange Hill as the place of interment. Thank you.

Edit submitted earlier
You show Marshall Nail as having an "S" on the end of his name--exactly as it appears on the tombstone!--but that was a typo (for lack of a better word). The actual application for the headstone (supplied by the VA) shows no "S", either on his name or on his widow's signature. Nor does his Social Security application have an "S".

There was no option to leave a note on the Edit, so I thought I'd explain here. I'd be happy to email you an image of the headstone app and a link to the SSA app if you like.

Thank you so much for memorializing all these Nails--the way they kept migrating across county lines I'd have never found them or been able to document them as I have without your Memorials.

RE: Mary Parrish Elliott
It's ok, Barbara. Whatever works is fine. You and I know it's easier using the Edit button, but until that works properly, go with whatever is easiest :) I have wanted to be able to connect children from the parents as well as parents from children, but that hasn't been an option. Wish it were! Things have changed at Find A Grave, mostly to enhance the options, but some things not :(
I just hope they keep it free as I have made more contacts through Find A Grave than any other source, paid or free! It's amazing how many have contacted me as they found the memorial of their relative. Lots of good info has been exchanged!

Me, too! I thought it was just my problem. Wonder what the problem is??? Let's hope they resolve it soon. It's easier to find the correct people when the Edit tab is used as you well know :)

RE: Joshua A. Tarrant
Barbara, Penny went with her grandparent James and Mary Metts Carver when they moved to Texas . William H. (Willie) married twice and lived Georgia all his live I am sure where buried check some to see I can find it. Patsy married James Stephens (my dad's Uncle Jimmy his mother Amanda Stephens (Stevens)Carver Merritt brother after her sister Deliah H. Tarrant Stephens died. I do not when she died but James married a third times to her cousins Mattie Carver A little over three years after his marriage to Patsy. I assume Patsy died during the her short marriage to Jimmy .
