RE: Jones Pictures
Thanks for the information but unfortunately the Atkinson we are looking for is Laura Atkinson. I think she is buried at the Jones Emmanuel Church Road Cemetery but the grave has not been located. That cemetery is in the middle of a field and the GSSTF said there may be other gravesites located there. Hopefully I will make it back to Smithfield and do some more hunting.

Thanks for what you are doing for the Isle of Wight cemeteries.

RE: Jones Pictures
Fran,
I am more than happy to help. You have encouraged me to go back to photos I captured in 2008 and 2009 and add them to memorials. Also, have been linking many of the Jones and Edwards in the Isle of Wight cemeteries.

No, I'm not related, so will be glad to transfer both him and his wife if you would like to manage their memorials.

RE: Bateman
From FAQs page:
How do I add a memorial when I'm not sure what cemetery they are buried?
This is similar to adding a memorial for cremation. Do not create a new cemetery which does not exist in order to add these memorials. Location of body unknown should be used for recent deaths where the disposition is not currently known. Final disposition should be determined and updated within 30 days.

is my direct-line 10th great-grandmother, Fran! (Not about to part with her memorial willingly :) Happy to link though if you can find where H(umphrey)? & Cecily are buried.

RE: Pendleton
Was, Fran. This cemetery *was*. I thought I answered this a while back by email, but maybe not:

If you were doing an archaeological dig or dredging the river looking for gravestones, the church building itself was located southeasterly
of Tunstall's Station?, Point?, Landing? which I believe may still show up on later maps, Tunstall's ____ anyway; it was along the Mattapony River in New Kent County.

Travel in those days was primarily by boat. Counties changed under their inhabitants feet without any help at all from Two Guys & a Truck. I'm intrigued by "They" (I'm assuming refers to
volunteers answering your photo requests?).

*Historical markers* !!! Did they send you pictures of them? Put up by whom? When? Where? Saying what? And from what source? (Bishop Meade 1789-1862 had no luck determining where it had been before his day, nor Rev. Slaughter following. My information is from piecing together scraps of deeds, anecdotes in family histories of early Clayton neighbors, day books, whatnot and lotsa mapping.

Official government pronouncements, usually off by
a few years when it comes to county divisions since population increases precede petitions for more accessible courthouses,etc...however that may be easier to search even by name now that much of what still exists has been put online.

Regardless, in the year & 4 mos. I've been with Find A Grave working mostly on my more immediate family and their friends & neighbors in Green County, Wisconsin ~ I actually witnessed the movement of one whole cemetery from Brodhead in
Green County into a neighboring county. No it didn't fall into the river, or be destroyed by war, weather or decree ~ but by the click of a mouse. (The explanation is something about which side of the county line that runs thru it)

And I'm wondering, a couple of hundred years from now when kids are searching the records for the origins of their furthest back grampas 'n grammas who lived all their lives in Brodhead ~ will they be looking in Green County or Rock?

Fran, were you the one that asked if I would transfer Kitty to you? I now have posted the pic where Clarence is buried with no marker. Dee
