Avid genealogist and repository of family history stuff. I love history and old things, and am especially fascinated by the places around me, and the tales of those who have lived and wandered through the same places I do today. I'm keenly interested in the history of material culture; the history of objects and how they were designed, manufactured, retailed, sold, used, thought about, lost, discarded, kept and treasured. This interest pairs naturally with my wonderment about family history, which originally led me to this site.|
I owe much to the abundance of family info I've obtained over the years, shared by cousins and volunteers all over the world - some still living and some now waiting for us on the other side. I love helping people with their own ancestral exploration journeys. In my spare time, I scan through old newspapers and enter the final resting places of those souls lost to the memory of time from published obits and death notices, hoping that one day they'll be found by their own relatives. This and my headstone photo volunteering are my ways of "paying it forward" for all the help, love, and support that has been shown to me in this work. I used to have a great fear of death, but this project has helped me get over that. I now think of cemeteries as peaceful memorial parks, and enjoy my time there paying respects on behalf of the families, friends, and loved ones who can't make it there themselves.
My initial goal is to enter at least as many records to Find A Grave as number of persons in my family history database (...currently about 16,000). One for each one that I've 'found' on my own journey. I love to research & include women's maiden names, and first names too as they're so often Mrs. Richard So-and-So throughout history.
PLEASE help your photo volunteers by obtaining the plot information (if any) and adding it to your desired memorial record prior to requesting a photo! You'll find that your requests are fulfilled much more quickly than if we have to do this ourselves (and some places charge!). This is a volunteer effort. Help us help you.
People live on as long as they're remembered. Speak their names often...
"Do not pity the dead, pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love."

~A Poem for our Ancestors~
Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished marble stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood and bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you

Words alone cannot thank you enough for this page and the LA paper for 1900 on his young death. I have been looking for him for years in and around Peoria, IL. I never knew he went to CA around the turn of the century and died at such a young age. I am most THANKFUL for your work here, Stephanie. By the way, in that posting, his sister Mrs. Elmer Matson was born Elizabeth (Lizzie) Hildner. I, too, hate it when the papers only refer to the husband's name. aargghhh. Thank you again.

Would you be willing to transfer ownership of this memorial to me? Robert Vint is my grandfather and I have information that I want to add to his memorial.
You certainly have done a mountain of genealogical research and shared it via Findagrave. My hat is off to you!

It is possible for you to transfer control of Bo Kim Moy's memorial over to me, please? I've added personal photos & a headstone photo already. I am a relative.

I would like to have one of the headstone photos deleted. Just to keep the up close one. The one that has more of the grass and the smaller stone to stay please?
Thanks in advance,

|Kathy Salazar||George Lunn - Forest Lawn Glendale|
I did photograph a B. Jane Lunn (1845-1930) buried next to George. Is it safe to assume this is his wife?
I will add her memorial in the next couple of days -- unless you would rather add and manage the memorial. I am not related to either Lunn - just have a passion for Forest Lawn!
